Primary 2 snow day activities

Good morning everyone! I hope you enjoy your day at home in the snow. Mr Shanks has posted a snow day booklet with lots of fun ideas for you to try. I have also included some activities below. You don’t need to do all of them of course but please try and do a few and you can tell everyone what you have been doing when we get back to school.

  1. Can you make an igloo out of the snow just like the ones we have been learning about in our hot and cold countries topic? Maybe you could make one for one of your toys. If you can, you can take a photo of it and post it to the blog.
  2. Instead of a snowman you could try making a ‘snow polar bear’ or ‘snow arctic fox’!
  3.  Practise your doubles and number bonds using this link:

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

Doubles: click on ‘doubles’ then ‘1-10’. Number bonds: click on ‘number bonds’ then practise up to 10. Once you are really fast at up to 10 you can move on to up to 20.

4. Have fun writing your spelling words in the snow.

5. Make a poster which includes your spelling words – you can include bubble writing and decorate your words

6. Enjoy reading your book and looking for some of the sounds we have been learning.

7.  Think about all the describing words you can to describe what the snow looks like.

Have lots of fun and stay safe. See you soon,

Mrs Muir.

  1. It sounds like you are having great fun in the snow Heather. I wonder how much deeper the snow will be today? I haven’t been out yet but it looks really deep here! Have a great day today,

    Mrs Muir

  2. We measured how deep the snow was today (although it is deeper now!), and counted how many snow angels could be made in one minute – 3!
