Primary 7 13.03.20

Friday 13th March 2020

This week in spelling the Morpurgos were working on the ‘oa’ sound. The Rowlings and Walliams are focusing on words with a ‘long e’ sound spelled with y. Next week is a whole review on all the words over the last 4 weeks – so p7 get cracking!

In topic we are still working on World War II.This week we are learning about the Blitz. The name comes from a German word meaning lighting war. We came into class this morning to find our houses have been destroyed by a terrifying night of bombing! We know the Blitz lasted for many months and a lot more destruction is to come! We have learnt so much more and hoping to learn more.

In class we created a silhouette of a soldier and placed it on a rounded black piece of paper and covered in in coloured tissue paper all over the back to create really effective stain glass windows.

In maths we have be looking at areas of triangles. What you do is find the area of a rectangle and then half it.

In numeracy we have been looking at negative numbers and where we can find them. We have learnt that you can find negative numbers on a thermometer and when working with money.

Every week the show gets better and better more props have been added, more lines known and more actions for songs have been coming left, right and centre!
