Lego Club

This week the boys did exceptionally well and built an amazing Starwars Vehicle.  They were very focussed on working well as a team and using good instructions to complete the task.

I was very proud of their achievements – Great work boys!!!!

Solar Eclipse

The nursery children observed the Solar Eclipse using the BBC live webcam where they had the opportunity to compare the different views from Lewis, Scotland and Newllyn, England.

Charlie also brought in his Pinhole Projector in for the children to see that he made at home with his mum to ensure that he could see the Solar Eclipse safely.

Mother’s Day by P2/3

Primary 2/3 worked hard on Mother’s Day over the past two weeks.  Last Friday some of our Mums and Grans attended the assembly we did with P1, P1/2 and P2.

Louise loves her mum because she is kind and caring.  Brooke loves her mum because she loves her.  Morgan loves her mum because she gives her dinner.  Euan loves his mum because she buys him games.  Iain loves his mum because she nurtures him.  Zoe loves her mum because she buys her good presents for her birthday. Coben loves his mum because she buys him toys.  Erin loves her mum because she is cute.  Carlos loves his mum because she takes him to restaurants.  Darcy loves her mum because she gives her good pasta.  Alex loves her mum because she gets her toys.  Jack loves his mum because she cares for him.  Katy loves her mum because she laughs at my faces.  Keigan loves his mum because she gives him cuddles and kisses.  Laura loves her mum because she is loving and kind.  Cole loves his mum because she tucks him in bed.  Lucca loves his mum because she is beautiful.  Kai loves his mum because she buys him Skylanders for his Wii.  Rachel loves her mum because she takes her places.  Logan loves his mum because she takes him to Legoland.  Katie loves her mum because she loves her.  Kai loves his mum because she buys him games.

Outdoor Classroom

This week in our outdoor classroom visit the morning children had an opportunity to purchase a book using their World Book Day voucher. We then looked around the Centre for people doing something funny for money for Comic Relief.

Wonderful Wellbeing @ Bankton

Pupils from across all stages of the school have been working in vertical groups this week with a focus on the Wellbeing Indicators. Everyone has enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends within each group. Mrs. Ferguson and I have particularly enjoyed working with children from all classes.

Health and Wellbeing is EVERYONE'S responsibility @ Bankton

We have developed lots of different skills co-operatively in groups to decide what each of the wellbeing indicators look like in OUR SCHOOL.

Some groups used ipads for filming video clips and raps while others made spinners, had quizzes and made up Acrostic Poems. Teachers and pupils are looking forward to developing these groups as part of our ‘Thinking Thursdays’ this term and next.

Many thanks to Mrs. Reilly, our talented PSW who worked with pupils to co-ordinate our Wellbeing display. We hope you will stop to read our speech bubbles on Parents’ Evening!

100th Collection of the Bankton Credit Union

On Friday, 6th March we celebrated the 100th collection of the Credit Union here in Bankton This valuable organisation is run by our valued Parent Council Members and Parent helpers who freely give up their time to help our children understand the importance of saving for things you want. There were balloons and prizes for savers who made a deposit today and all new members are given a piggy bank with their first deposit.

If you are unsure of the purpose of the Credit Union, please check out the flier in our useful documents section of the Home Page.

Well done and thank you to our wonderful helpers who worked hard to celebrate this great occasion with the children. Come and join any Friday morning and you too will learn that money may not grow in trees – but it will when you save with the credit Union!

Alexander, Robbie and Logan give Credit Union the thumbs up!
