P1 have settled into life at Bankton really well and can get themselves ready quickly in the morning and in the afternoons!

We have been busy learning the sounds ‘s’ and ‘p’.  S is a long stretchy sound and ‘p’ is a short bouncy sound.

In handwriting, we have been busy practising writing the ‘m’ and ‘c’ and thinking about how we hold our pencils correctly!

In maths, we have learnt how to read, write and order the numbers up to seven.

P1 have had a super week and having been working hard to learn the routines of the classroom and going out to play with your P7 buddies.

In phonics, we have started to learn the sounds m and c. We have been practising how to say and write these sounds.

We found out that ‘m’ is a red sound as we make it with our lips. The ‘c’ sound is a yellow sound because we make this sound with our tongue touching the back of our mouths!

In maths, we have been learning to count and write our numbers to 4.

Well done to the new P1’s who have all settled in well to school life.  They have been working very hard and are becoming familiar with the rules and routines within the class and playground.  The P2’s in our class have been super role models and have been helping the new boys and girls to find their way around the school. This week we have been learning how to form the numbers to 4 correctly and have been looking at matching the numerals with their number names too which is quite tricky!  In phonics we have been learning about ‘m’ and ‘c’ and have been learning how to form the letters correctly, identifying the colour of these sounds and learning about where in the mouth they are made.  We have completed lots of other work too including talking about our senses, discussing our emotions, exploring our playground and drawing pictures of it, playing getting to know you games, writing about a favourite part of a story we heard and playing percussion instruments to make loud and quiet sounds.  What a busy week!

Miss Rodford would like to say a big welcome to all the new P1 children in her class!

They have been super stars this week and have been acting so grown up.  We are looking forward to starting to learn our sounds and numbers next week !!!

Well done P1b for all taking part in funday.  Everyone joined in with all the activities and fun was had by all!  My favourite activity was definitely the super soaker assault course!  Look at our happy faces to see how much fun we had!

P1a had a great Funday !!!!

We had a great fun taking part in Karate, dancing, movie time and supersoakers.

P1a and P1b had a super time on their trip to Beecraigs!!

First, we walked down to see the deer, sheep and highland cows. We were lucky and got to see a baby highland cow which was only one day old! We thought that he was very sweet!

Then, we had our lunch and got to play on the grass!

Once we had finished we went to the park and had great fun playing on the slide, swing and climbing ropes.

Miss Rodford and Mrs Lloyd were very impressed with our behaviour and how well we listened !

P1b were very busy last week and enjoyed lots of different activities including a judo taster session!  There were some good judo moves and lots of perseverance to not allow their partner to win!

We also reinforced our days of the week in maths and are getting really good at this.  We made door hangers to help us track the day of the week at home!
