Important Update – Monday 9th May

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am pleased to be able to report that the SQA exams went smoothly today with the alternative accommodation in place. Bellrock were able to provide a lunch service to young people and staff. This will continue through the week.

Staff from every SQA area will be available from tomorrow morning to support pupils S4-6 with exam preparation and questions.

Pupils must report to reception, sign in and will be escorted to the area that teachers are working from. Staff have been fully briefed on the current situation and are now planning in their teams for delivering the curriculum to S1-3 in alternative locations from Friday. As stated previously, our young people will be relocated according to their house. More detail on this will follow.

From Friday, pupils will arrive at Balfron High School as usual and leave at 9am by bus to their allocated school. Staff and pupils will return to Balfron High School at the end of every day, by 3:30pm. We have arranged for staff and our most vulnerable young people to have an induction visit prior to Friday’s start. All pupils will have a formal induction at their receiving school on arrival on Friday morning.

We are liaising closely with colleagues from St Modan’s High, Stirling High and Wallace High to ensure that the experience is positive. Colleagues have been extremely helpful in ensuring that we will have the classrooms and resources that we need. I am grateful for their support.

Work is starting on the building at 4pm today and will take place outwith exam time each day. Once again, I would like to thank you for your support and patience.

Yours faithfully, Elaine Bannatyne
