Welcome to Biology

Our National 5 Biology course explores the science of living things, from tiny cells to entire ecosystems. Students will study topics like genetics, body systems, and biodiversity, while learning about how organisms function and interact. With a mix of practical experiments and theory, this course helps develop problem-solving and scientific skills, laying a strong foundation for further studies in Biology and related fields.

Students are assessed through a combination of in-class tests throughout the year, a final exam (80% of overall grade), and a practical assignment (20% of overall grade). The in-class tests help track progress and understanding. The final exam covers the full course content, while the practical assignment is a research project completed in class and marked by the SQA.
