Nativity stars

P1, P2 and P3 were stars during their Nativity performance yesterday. Well done to everyone – especially to the P3’s who had the main parts in the Nativity.

Thank you also to Mrs Thomson and Mrs Dundas for all their efforts in putting the play together.

The singing has been amazing and everyone looked like they were having so much fun.

Good luck with your final performance this afternoon !

Story planning

Today Primary 2 were hard at work planning  the beginning , middle and ending of our  stories. We will share our picture plans together and act them out before we write the stories. We tried to add lots of detail to our picture plans and this will help us to write longer stories.

Thinking about our Maths

In Primary 2 we are thinking about our numbers and how we see them. We have learned to loop or circle numbers so that we can see them much easier. We also have to work very closely with our partner and explain our thinking to them. It is fun and many of us did not know that we were actually doing Maths.

Stars in the night sky

The children in Primary 2 have been working with Miss Finlayson and Mrs Musgrave and they have created these amazing starry night sky pictures. We have been colour mixing our paint and then building up a collage with all of our cut out pieces. Don’t they look stunning?

Scary children !

Our Hallowe’en party last night was lots of fun. We played games like apple bobbing, pin the tail on the cat and there was some really loud Disco music. There were lots of scary costumes and pumpkins. It must have been very difficult to judge the winners.

Sun and Moon questions

Primary 2 have made a good start to the new term. Our new topic is about phases of the Sun and Moon.

Our questions to find out about the Sun and Moon are :

What do I know about the Sun?

What do I know about the Moon?

What would I like to find out about the Sun and the Moon?

Toys toys toys

Thank you so much to Mr Houston who visited Primary 2. He brought a suitcase full of Victorian toys for us to explore. We learned a lot about how toys move and about how toys have changed. Many of the Victorian toys were made of wood and metal whereas many of the toys we play with today are made of plastic.

Mr. Houston gave us a very exciting ending to our topic about moving toys.

P2 Problem Solvers

We explored different ways to arrange numbers of people living in houses in a street today. Each house had to have at least 2 people in it and all 12 people needed to have a house to live in.

Did we manage to solve the problem correctly?

Can you think of any other ways the people could be arranged in the 4 houses?

Getting ready for school

This week we have been writing a set of instructions about getting ready for school. We drew a sequenced picture plan first then we matched our writing to the pictures. This was challenging for us but we persevered.

  • What is a bossy word ?
  • Why do we use them when we write instructions?
