25.2.22 Weekly Review

This week we have started learning about tsunamis. We watched some videos and looked at websites, books and powerpoints about what causes tsunamis and the impact they can have on both humans and the environment. We then took this information and added extra pages to our Natural Disasters Book on Book Creator.

In writing we have just finished some terrific reports on earthquakes and we also made a start on our tsunamis one. We also focussed on adding diagrams to our work and discussed how to make these look scientific with the use of labels, ruler work and accurate pencil work.

In maths we have finished our block on division and next week we will be moving on to look at fractions as well as data handling.

In our health lessons we have been talking about consent and how we are the boss of our bodies. We looked at different scenarios and discussed what to do in these cases to keep ourselves safe. A big message from these lessons was to always tell a trusted adult if our ‘belly voice’ (the feeling in our tummies) tells us that something doesn’t feel right.

In art we have started some beautiful work on tsunamis and will finish these off next week. We will post photos up when they are finished.

We have had a great week and are looking forward to World Book Day next Thursday and the fun activities that have been planned.

Weekly Review – 7/2/22

This week we have really enjoyed learning about earthquakes and will be finishing our writing based on this after the holidays.

We have used oil pastels and water colours to create art based on seismographs, the instrument that measures earthquakes. We have included some pictures below.

We have worked very hard to improve our skills in division and some of us were introduced to algebra.

We are looking forward to exploring natural disasters further after the holidays.

Have a great holiday P6 and P6/7!
