P6/7 Weekly Review

P6/7 have had a super week this week. We have been finished off our work on tsunamis and produced some excellent pieces of writing to go alongside this. We have also finished our tsunami art work using a range of oil pastels to represent the ocean colours.

On Wednesday we teamed up with P1 and read them a story as part of World Book Day. We made characters for them to play with as we read and then we showed them how to animate a character they have drawn and bring it to life. Mrs Smith was very impressed with how enthusiastic and helpful we were when supporting the little ones.

On Thursday was it was World Book Day. We made some origami bookmarks and decorated them with our own theme. We then had a lovely assembly ran by Mrs Strathearn who told us a little about herself and then shared the 2022 World Book Day song. At the end of the assembly she set everyone a task to tell her something about each of us. We made a start on this on Friday. For the rest of World Book Day we took part in a corridor scavenger hunt looking for famous book characters around the school. The winning class will be announced next week and they will win a book of their choice for their class. We also created some gifs based on popular children’s books. Take a look and see if you can identify which books have been animated.

On Friday we made our Powerpoint pages for Mrs Strathearn and completed a comprehension passage about World Book Day.

John also took an excellent video of one of our stick insects eating their moult. They shed their skin so that they can grow bigger and then they eat it for the nutrients. It was a bit gross but interesting at the same time. Please see our Teams page for John’s video as unfortunately we are having upload difficulties.

What has been your highlight of the week?
