Writing – Scots animals
Can you choose one of the following animals to write a description about.
Dug = dog
Tod = fox
Puddock = frog
brock = badger
cuddle = horse
doo = pigeon
coo = cow
bubbly-jock = turkey
- Remember to include lots of interesting adjectives
- Example – The brock had a shiny jet black coat with a strip of silver that glistened in the moonlight.
Activity 2
Rhyming words
From,” The Spell Shell” by Roderick Hunt
” Down by the sea,
where the waves slip and skim,
two children are playing
while the sea creatures swim.”
- Can you write down 4 words that rhyme with skim and swim ?
” Inside the shell
has a pearly blue sheen.
The outside is speckled
with orange and green.”
- Sheen and green rhyme. Can you write down 5 other words that rhyme with sheen and green ?
- Remember the words you think of may sound the same but, they may have a different spelling eg sheen and mean.
- Can you spot any words or objects around your house or in books that rhyme with spell and shell ? For example – door bell.

Activity 1
How many 2D and 3D shapes can you find around your house and garden ?
- Can you name the shapes?
- Could you build a 2D or a 3D robot or monster with the shapes that you found?
Numeracy
Sequence the following numbers from smallest to largest.

Now try these:

Word problems
- Jimmy has 12 slices of pizza and he has 3 friends. He wants everyone to have the same amount of pizza. ( Remember to include Jimmy too! )
How many slices of pizza do Jimmy and his friends eat ?
- Flora has 16 flowers and she buys 5 more roses. How many flowers does Flora have now?
Health and Wellbeing
Draw a picture of someone who helps you. Label your drawing with 5 things they do to make you happy.
- Now give your drawing to the person who helps you. How do you think your act of kindness will make them feel ?

Literacy Activity 1
Writing – Recount Text
Choose an event to retell. For example.
- make your favourite sandwich?
- going to your football/rugby/Brownies/swimming club
- attending a party
- weekend event
Retell the event by using the Recount Text Structure. Remember this has already happened and you should write in the past tense e.g. I went to the park. I ate an apple. You can write this or you can record yourself orally retelling the event.
Title: what is the text about?
Orientation: Provide information about Who? Where? and When?
Sequence of Events: What happened? First… Then…. Next…. After…. Finally
Personal Comment: How did you feel about the event?

Can you find words in your reading book or around your house that rhyme with the following words?

Can you use the measuring tape in your read, write, count bag to point to and say numbers to 50?
Now can you write or paint the numbers 20-30, 30-40 and 40-50 correctly? Can you make theses numbers with twigs and stones that you find outdoors?

These are all even numbers.

- create your own team t-shirt by drawing or adding photos of the special people in your life (who is in your back-up team) on the blank outline of the t-shirt.

Writing- Descriptive Text
Choose a relative or friend and draw a detailed picture.
Label your drawing using adjectives ( eg short, brown hair) to describe what the person looks like.
Think about what things your friend/relative likes to do and make some notes on the back.
Then write your description using your labelled plan. Remember to use the following structure:
- Title ( to identify who the text is about)
- Introduction ( who it is )
- Characteristics ( what does the person look like and what can the person do)
- Personal Comment ( evaluation – how do you feel about this person).
