ELC had a fantastic time today on our first Muddy Monday of the year! We explored the park and school grounds and found lots of places that reminded us of the story, including some long grass and lots of oozy mud! We even spotted a bear or two- luckily they were friendly! Thanks to the grown up helpers who came along to help today, we hope you had fun! Click on the pictures below to view our photo gallery.
This afternoon the Nursery children joined us for a Christmas story called ‘Christmas Gingerbread’ by Janet Winter.
We worked with partners to complete a range of different literacy and numeracy activities related to the book.
It was great to see so many children working together and helping each other.
Please visit again soon!
This week we have enjoyed:
- “Doing the Nativity. I loved singing the camel song”
- “Looking at shapes in maths. I liked drawing the Christmas pictures using shapes to draw around”
- “I liked doing our dress rehearsal because my big sister was there!”
- “I liked learning about food chains and different animals”
- “I liked watching ‘The Snowman’ and drawing him”
We are looking forward to our final week of Christmas parties, a pantomime show and a tasty Christmas lunch!
Our ELC Christmas shows are finished! We hope you all enjoyed our performances on Tuesday and today.
Like we said at the show all the ideas came from the children, they helped make the backdrop and parts of the costumes – please see our floorbook for the story of this!
A huge thank you to all who came to watch us!
On Monday we welcomed our parents in for our final Book Week themed session. Everyone enjoyed watching Meg McLaren read the story of ‘ The Station Mouse’ then we all participated in a step-by-step drawing lesson. We cut our our characters to make puppets and used these to retell the story. Our next steps would be creating a word bank together to describe our character and then write some sentences about him.
Which book did you enjoy the most?
Christmas has landed at ELC!
We have been busy doing lots of Christmas crafts dressing up activities, reading and singing for our ELC show!
We have also had a cheeky elf visit our nursery, we look for him everyday to see what he has been up to!
We cannot wait to see you all next week at our ELC shows on Tuesday and Thursday!
Primary 1 have been working with PeeblesCAN throughout the year to grow, harvest, weed and tidy up our school garden. We have enjoyed observing the changes over the seasons and were excited to find insects among what we gathered!
We harvested a range of vegetables inlcuding beetroot, potatoes, peas and broad beans. The boys and girls also planted new seeds for overwintering.
The children worked particularly hard to clear and tidy our garden in their last few sessions, using different tools and equipment to do so.
A big well done to all of the Primary 1s for their hard work and a big thank you to PeeblesCAN!
This afternoon we continued to explore our BookBug bags in Primary 1 as we carried out activities based on the book ‘Sophie Johnson Unicorn Expert’ by Morag Hood.
We worked with our friends and grown-ups to make sparkly headbands.
We also blended sounds to make words with our magnetic boards and played rhyming games too.
Further games and activities related to the BookBug bags can be found following this link: https://www.parentclub.scot/articles/p1-bookbug-bag?fbclid=IwAR01taFw0G-_-4_g9Setqti9ccOTRXFV1eeFihYLefXBCrjAXJH-brvXR6U
Please join us next week on Tuesday 3rd December for our final Stay, Play and Learn session at 2.30pm. We will be looking at the last book in our bags and the children will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite book.
