Hello boys and girls!

We are now into our second month of the year or as Miss Lee likes to call it ‘the month of love!’ So remember to be kind to yourselves and have time away from the laptop to do things that you love!

I have attached this week’s slides and resources for you all to access. We will be teaching live on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11am and we hope to see lots of you there again!

If there is anything we can do to help please just give myself or Miss Morrison an email or message on SeeSaw.

Stay safe, sending lots of love and virtual hugs

Miss Lee x

Busy Bees with Miss Lee

The term as flown by and we have been very busy on a Wednesday with Miss Lee!

Numeracy

We have been focusing on measure this term in P2. We have measuring the length and height of objects using a ruler in centimetres and as well as metre sticks to measure in metres. P2 can now convert metres in to centimetres…WOW!

We have had fun finding  active ways to learn how to measure, take a look at what we have been up to in our pictures below.

We have been focusing on our number bonds through daily tens with Miss Lee. We have used concrete materials such as cubes to support our learning and we have now moved on to our blueprint boards which we love using in class!

HWB

On a Tuesday afternoon, we focus on our HWB. This term we are learning about the importance of kindness, coinciding with Anti Bulling Week. We have participated in a series of lessons to support this, including my favourite; the crumpled heart.

The message I want the pupils to take from this term is-

‘IN A WORLD WHERE YOU CAN BE ANYTHING, BE KIND!’ I know in my heart that my P2s are fabulous friends to one another!

Outdoor Learning

The rain didn’t stop P2 having lots of fun on our outdoor learning session with Ryan from Active Schools at the end of November! The boys and girls looked after Miss Lee as she is not a fan of the rain!

CHRISTMAAAAS IS COMING!!!

It’s that time of year again at Gardenrose! This year it is very different as we would be rehearsing for our spectacular Nativity, however due to COVID it will just have to wait until next year. Miss Lee does love her Nativity, but don’t worry I still have my sassy angels and rogue sheep to entertain me in class! We have been busy making very special Christmas cards for you to enjoy and we are learning ‘Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer’ in Makaton throughout the festive period.

P2 would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Term 2 with Miss Lee

We are off to a flying start in term 2 with Miss Lee! My spooky witches and wizards have enjoyed some Halloween play based learning as well as being introduced to new aspects of learning across the curriculum.

Literacy

Within literacy, I will be supporting with Talk for Writing on a Tuesday with Miss Morrison on the Story of Charlie and focusing on reading and comprehension on a Wednesday. We will have a separate reading book in class from home due to COVID  guidelines.

Numeracy

This term we will be focusing on measuring with Miss Lee. We loved measuring with non standard units in P1 and now we are ready to progress on to using a ruler accurately to measure the height and length of objects in P2.

“The paintbrush was 30 cm long, it was longer than the pencil because it was only 23cm long” – Anni

Play Based Learning

We have had lots of fun transferring our skills we are learning in class through play. We enjoyed our Halloween themed PBL and we are now exploring different emergency services relating to fire safety for Bonfire Night and a Dental Practice as part of our IDL on Teeth!

Halloween Is Coming!

We have been exploring potions! We have been measuring bicarbonate of soda and vinegar to watch the cauldron bubble. “Izzy Wizzy lets get busy time to make my potion Fizzy”!!!! We has super fun scooping our pumpkins and feeling a variety of sensory materials such as jelly, ice, noodles, spaghetti, playdough and beans!!!

We have been exploring rhyming CVC  words through the story ‘Room and the Broom’.  We made ‘Silly Soup’ using bats, cats, logs, dogs, star and car! We have also been singing lots of Halloween spooky songs.

We have been learning new mathematical language when making our witches wands. We have been exploring height too. How many pumpkins high are you?

Welcome to P2 with Miss Morrison and Miss Lee!

Welcome to Primary 2!

We are so happy to be back together again after being apart for so long!

Numeracy

This term we are focusing on double number addition and pattern with Miss Lee. We have consolidated our colour and shape patterns through fun and engaging activities! We are now focusing on number patterns by counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

Literacy

In Literacy we are focusing on our writing through ‘Talk for Writing’. Miss Lee and P2 have been focusing on retelling the story of The Three Little Pigs! So far, we have created actions to retell the story and started our storymaps! Keep your eyes peeled for photos and videos of our story. We have had Play Based learning opportunities in the open area to support with our story of The Three Little Pigs. We had lots of fun creating our own houses using the block play area.

“This is the chimney and the wolf can’t get up here on my house because it’s too high!”- Angus
