Spelling: Please complete lists homophones, or i-e, in your spelling homework jotter for Thursday. Please write out your spelling words 3 times using SaCaWaC in the same way as we do in class. Remember that part of this process is to check and correct your spelling words. Any corrections you have from last week should be completed as part of this week’s homework. You should then choose the 6 spelling words you think you can write the best sentences for and write an up-levelled sentence for each of them. This week we are  again focusing on using an interesting opener for each sentence and I will be assessing your use of them. However, this does not mean I am not checking for ambitious vocabulary and fantastic connectives too. We are trying to use all of these to make your sentences the best they can be.

Reading: Your new core reader was issued on Wednesday by Mrs. Livingstone and you were also assigned your homework. You should complete this task ready for your follow up activities with Mrs. Livingstone on Wednesday 17th May.

Personal Reading Challenge: Your Personal Reading Challenge is continuing throughout this term. There are now 6 weeks left to reach (or beat!) the target you set yourselves this term . Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during ERIC time. Please keep recording the books you have completed this term in your Reading Passport, which is kept in class.

Maths:  Your homework can be found using the links below. This should be completed in your maths homework jotter and handed in on Thursday.

Please remember to record the books in your reading passport as you finish them. The passport is kept in class. Remember this is your record of the number of books you have read so far this term.

H&WB/Writing: As we are having such lovely weather at the moment, your homework is to go outside and play! I would like you to then choose one day from this week and write a short (no more than 50 words) diary extract telling me what you did on that day. Please remember to include the relevant features we have been using in class, eg. time connectives, emotive language. This will make your writing more interesting. You should then post your diary extract on the blog and I will publish them all at the end of the week. Please remember to check you have used your capital letters and punctuation correctly. If you are unable to post on the blog, please complete a paper copy. This task should be completed by Friday.

Maths: There is no written maths homework this week.

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you have been having a fabulous Easter break. I am looking forward to hearing all of your stories during check-in tomorrow.

This week I would like you to continue focusing on using  ambitious connectives in each sentence again. Here are some examples: before, as well as, however, also, although and after. Try to include one in each sentence. Some of you are doing very well with this. Remember this does not mean you forget about uplevelling your openers and vocabulary. We are trying to use all of these together to make your sentences the best they can be.

Last term I introduced the reading feedback form which should be completed by the person hearing you read aloud. We will be continuing with this during term 4. New forms will be issued this week.

This week you will be setting a new target. The aim is to ensure you are reading regularly (not just during our ERIC sessions) and you will most definitely achieve success by the end of term. Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC sessions.

Good evening everyone! I hope you have been having a lovely weekend in this glorious weather. Well, we have reached our final week of term 3. What a quick year it has been! Here is your last lot of homework for this term. Keep reading for your reminders for this week.

Reading:  A new core reader to complete at home will be issued tomorrow (Monday). Please complete the book for Thursday. There will be no written homework for this as all tasks will be completed in class. As always, if there is any vocabulary you are unsure of, please take a note of it and we will discuss it in class on Thursday.

Please remember to read aloud to someone at home. Once again, your feedback form should be completed, if possible, by the person who heard you read and returned to school for Thursday. A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to complete this again last week. I am thoroughly enjoying reading your comments and I hope you are enjoying hearing the children read to you.

Personal Reading Challenge: This is your final week of our Reading Challenge. How are you doing? Have you managed to reach the target number of books you set at the beginning of this term. If you have, a HUGE well done! If you haven’t there is still time! Use this week wisely. Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC sessions.

Please remember to record the books in your reading passport as you finish them. The passport is kept in class. Remember this is your record of the number of books you have read so far this term.

Maths:  Our Big Maths Beat That scores are increasing and accuracy is pretty much 100% for all of you on the questions you answer. However, we do need to work on the speed of your calculations. Each week you should be able to answer more questions than you did the week before. I would like you to spend 15 minutes this week working on building your speed of calculations. Please use the link below to do so.

Please remember to record the books you have read in your Reading Passports which are kept in class.  I am so proud of the way you have all engaged in this challenge – well done.

Maths:  There is no maths homework this week, however you can still practise your tables by accessing the links below.  Remember we will be continuing our Table Challenge in class this week.

P5H Homework and Reminders – w/b 20.3.17

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are having a lovely weekend even though the weather is not the best. Please continue reading for your homework and reminders.

Spelling: This is your final spelling homework of the term. Please complete lists ure or ing  in your spelling homework jotter for Thursday. Please continue to write out your spelling words 3 times using SaCaWaC in the same way as we do in class. You should then write a sentence for each of your first 6 spelling words. This week we are again focusing on using ambitious connectives in each sentence. Here are some examples: however, instead of, also, after, meanwhile, unless and as well as. Try to include one in each of your sentences. Remember this does not mean you forget about using ambitious vocabulary too. We are trying to use both of these to make your sentences the best they can be.

Reading: We are now at our last two chapters of Danny the Champion of the World. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have. Please remember your homework was to read chapters 21 and 22 for Tuesday 21st March.  If you do not complete the reading you will be unable to take part in the class lesson.

As always if there are any words that you are unsure of please take a note of them in your Book Detectives jotter (remembering the page number) and, if possible, use a dictionary to find out their meaning . We will start our lesson by discussing these in class.

Personal Reading Challenge: You now only have 2 weeks to go with your personal reading challenge. You have all set yourself a target which you are aiming to reach (or beat!) by the end of the challenge. Please remember to record the books you have read in your Reading Passports which are kept in class. Remember to choose your books carefully to ensure they are at the correct level for you.  You can also bring a book from home into school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC time and will count as part of your reading challenge.

Maths:  There is no maths homework this week due to Eco Week, however you can still practise your tables by accessing the links below.  Remember we will be continuing our Table Challenge in class this week.
