Microsoft Teams

Hi Parent/Carer

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and are making the most of this lovely weather we have.  Last week I posted some information about Microsoft Teams on the blog , which contained training powerpoints and videos to help you access and become familiar with it.  I have added these resources to the parent information tab so that they are easy to find and access if you need them.

This week we are planning to start using teams.  Please don’t worry, we are still putting all of the learning files and resources on the Sharepoint too so that they can be accessed in both sites just in case you have difficulty in gaining access to one of them.

Teams will allows us to provide our pupils with a safe space to chat with their friends and teachers without their comments being seen by everyone using the Sharepoint.  The conversation feed in Sharepoint is always so busy and we are worried that we may miss a comment or question from one of our pupils.  We are hoping that by using Teams, all of our pupil comments will be in one space allocated to their class making this less likely to happen.  They can also upload pictures of their work in teams by adding it to the conversation feed and the teacher can then comment on it too.

Thank you for all of your support and cooperation in this matter.

Room 2 Space Topic

Room 2
This is the last week on our space topic.  Have a look at the link below to find out about the Milky Way.  See if you can collect these facts:
1.  Why is our galaxy called the Milky Way?
2.  What are galaxies held together by?
3.  Is the Milky Way an elliptical, a spiral or an irregular galaxy?

New topic to start next week. x

Coatbridge Rovers Fitness Booklet

Gary Flint from Coatbridge Rovers Football Club has contacted me to share a fitness booklet that was created to keep pupils active and healthy during this period of lockdown.  I will attach the link below and will also put the link to the resource in the parent information tab so that it can be found and accessed easily.

Important Information for Parents/Carers

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope you are all safe and well.  As a staff we are missing all of our pupils so much.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your efforts in helping your child/ children engage with their online learning.  We know how difficult this will be, even as a staff we are finding it a challenge to adapt to a new way of working.

The best advice is, to do what you can do.  If you can access the online learning resources and are using them, that’s great.  If you are unable to gain access or are deciding to do your own thing with regards to schooling, that’s great too.  We want you to do what is best for you and what works for your family circumstances.  Please don’t put pressure on yourself.  When we return to school, the staff will work hard with all of our pupils to reinforce and consolidate their learning so please try not to worry.

Try to vary the types of activities that you are doing and remember that there are lots of learning opportunities in household chores, baking, playing board games, reading for enjoyment, outdoor activities and dance etc.  Do what you can, when you can and most importantly try to have as much fun as you can.

I have added a link to the latest newsletter released by NLC education.  Please read the contents carefully and if you have any questions regarding anything in it or anything I have mentioned above, please do not hesitate to contact me via email.
