Hi P7 Parents/Carers

I have been sent some useful information from Coatbridge High School with regards to transition for our P7 pupils. I will attach the information below for you to share with your child. I have given you a link to the CBH school blog, this contains lots of up to date information. CBH sent a Meet the Departments document, which I have also linked below.  I have also provided links to a virtual tour of CBH, which was recorded over three parts and can also be found on the CBH school twitter account.

Transition periods can be a daunting and scary time for some pupils so it is important to talk with your child about how they are feeling and to spend time going through resources together. Myself, Mrs Waddell and Mrs Smith are also happy to help in any way we can to try and alleviate any fears or concerns you may have as a parent or any worries your child may have.  You can send your enquiries to elainepaterson@langloan.n-lanark.sch.uk.

As it stands I only have information from CBH at the moment and will post information from St Ambrose and St Andrew’s when I have it. Over the next week or so we will be posting more general transition resources that you can work on with your child.  Staff are finalising some of the details before we share it with you.

A Special Message for our Langloan Family ❤️

Remember you don’t always need to print the worksheets from you class folder to complete them. When you click on the PDF you will see a download button at the top of the screen. If you are working on a phone, iPad or tablet clicking on this will bring up the worksheet to full size. Take a screenshot of the worksheet and you will be able to edit it in photos to add the answers or you can open it in a drawing app or any photo editing app that you like to use. You can then save and share your work with your teacher on Teams. You can also download and edit on a laptop too. Here is an example from the P1 Folder

We know that some of our families are struggling to access teams.  I have provided some helpful information that my assist you at this time.

It is best to download the app.  When you have done this it will ask you to sign in.  You MUST ONLY sign in with your child’s FULL Glow username, e.g gw12smithjohn@glow.sch.uk

The part I have highlighted in black is very important.  This helps the site to recognise that it is a school account. Signing in with your own email address will not work as your child’s Glow account has been added to their class team tile.

You will then be redirected to their Glow sign in page to put in their password, which is the same one that they would always use to sign in to Glow.  You may be asked to set the time zone if it is the first time you have logged in- select Dublin from the drop down menu.

Some great advice on how to access Glow from your consoles.

We know that this period of lock down is both challenging and difficult for us all. We are also aware that some of our families may be finding it difficult to get out to the shops for essential food provision due to shielding measures that have been put in place or due to lack of childcare etc.

Mrs Devoti, who runs our Scripture Union club along side Mrs Fallon has sent me a link to some Scripture Union resources that can be found online.

Scripture union have put together little bitsize SU lessons for all the kids who would normally go along to the school groups (but of course everyone is welcome). It is the same material from “One big story” we would normally use and every Monday it will be updated with new stories and activities

It was great to see so many of you working on Sumdog this week. Half our class took part in the Maths challenge so well done to 1st place McKenzy 2nd place Maisie and 3rd place Isla. Isla was also the winner of the literacy challenge with 2nd place Josh and 3rd place McKenzy. Remember to download the Microsoft teams app on your phone or tablet and sign in with your Glow details to have a chat and see the work set for our class this week. I miss you all, pop over to teams and say hello.
