Room 2 :)

Hello,

Welcome to Room 2’s blog. We will post weekly updates here and tell you all about our learning journey throughout the year.

Thank you for coming along to our recent ‘Meet the Teacher’ event. It was great to see so many of you there. I hope that you found the sessions useful and if there is anything that you require throughout the year, please just get in touch.

Room 2 have been learning the routines of our classroom and school. Yesterday we went on a little walk around the school to meet some new teachers and to find important places in our school building. We even received our third ‘Proud Cloud’ for showing our school value of ‘United’ whilst walking in a line. We were very PROUD!

We have started learning numbers ‘0’ and ‘1’ this week. We learned about Greedy Zero and Penguin One. We have been practising the formation of these numbers in active ways and in our new jotters. It is all very exciting!

Room 5

It has been a very busy week in Room 5 this week. We began learning our Science topic – All about the Eclipse, and looked for the differences in what we see in the sky during the day and at night. We went outside and spoke about how important it is to look at the sun safely, and the children were surprised that they could see the moon even in the daylight! For spelling, we focused on ‘ng’ and ‘th’, and common words ‘have, your, only, by’. In number we focused on bigger than, smaller than and equal to for numbers up to 50, and 1 more 1 less, 2 more and 2 less than a big number. In P.E we played some circle time games, and our favourite was bear in the honey pot. Outdoor P.E today was so much fun and we played football with Miss Campbell. Our Non Number focus this week is days of the week and months of the year, and the children created some wonderful display work for the board. During spelling, we have been working really hard at using the elkonin boxes, which help us to identify each sound within a word, and we have focused on knowing what a single sound is and what a joint sound is.

It has been another great week, and I hope you all have a great weekend when it comes! Check out our great pictures below!

Pupil Voice:

Alice: We learned about space, and some of the planets.

Callum: We learned about high planes fly, how high bees fly and how far away they are from us.

David: We learned about joint phonemes, which are two letter that make 1 sound.

Ayesha: We learned about common words.

Lucas: We learned about different months and days of the week.

Peyton: We went outside to look at the sky to see if we could see stars and moon outside during the day.

David: We played football with Miss Campbell.

Erland: I enjoyed learning about space.

Aulay: We learned about our feelings, and our rights as a child.

Matthew: I have enjoyed reading books in the library.

Katie: I enjoyed colouring in outside during play and it was nice and cool and calming.

Leo: I have enjoyed doing the rainbow tasks.

Reminders

Indoor P.E is Wednesday and Outdoor P.E is a Thursday, children can come to school in their P.E kits.

Room 11’s Wonderful First Week

Welcome to our Room 11 blog! We are going to tell you about some of the fun things we have been learning about every week. Every week, a different group will share their favourite learning.

This week we started our new class book The Alien Stole My Dog. We think it is going to be really funny! We did some drama too. We made our own CD-ROM prop and did freeze frames pretending to be David, the main character.

We have also been working really hard on our maths. The Primary 3s have been adding and subtracting numbers up to 20 and the Primary 4s have been adding and subtracting numbers up to 100. We are excited to see what we learn next!

Room 3

Our First Full Week in Primary 1! 

The children have settled in so well and have been busy exploring, learning and making new friends. 

This week, we have been learning all about rhyming words. We enjoyed listening carefully to words and spotting which ones sounded the same at the end. We also had fun thinking of our own rhyming words!

We have been learning more about our names too. The children discovered how many syllables are in their names by clapping them out. This was a great way to develop our listening skills while learning something new about ourselves.

Today, the children were developing their fine motor skills, helping to build the strength and control they will need for writing, cutting and other classroom activities.

We also enjoyed reading The Colour Monster Goes to School. The story gave us a lovely opportunity to talk about starting school, our feelings and all the different emotions we might experience. The children then became very creative and designed their own Colour Monsters, choosing colours and ideas to represent their feelings and personalities.

It has been a busy and exciting week, filled with lots of learning, laughter and creativity. We can’t wait to see what next week brings!

Room 24

This week we started our first class novel, Dragon Fire, which is about a dragon living in Edinburgh, which steals things, faeries living under Arthur’s Seat, and an evil eagle named Amgarad.

We also decided our class jobs, which we’re guessing you already know Harley, Orlaith, and Lewis’ jobs (bloggers). We did quite a bit of art, drawing islands in the shape of our first initials, drew symmetrical monsters out of our names, and also drew realistic dragon eyes!

We think it’s supposed to be realistic but I’m not sure.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

 

On Monday/ Friday we had P.E. Monday was P.E with Room 20.

We did team building games like when we had to move a tarp across the pitch with all of us standing on it. 

We really had to ‘cloth’ at it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

Primary 5, Room 15

Welcome to Room 15’s blog. We’ve had a great week so let us tell you about some of it.

I’ve enjoyed exploring the new resources in the classroom. My favourite is the Play-Doh.    – Noah

Adventures in Room 6: Learning, Building, and Playing Together!

Primary 2 is officially off to a flying start! This week, we had a very exciting milestone in our classroom: we used our class play equipment for the very first time.
