Our week in Room 16 22.01.24

Another week of fun in Room 16!

In literacy we have introduced a new way of learning our phonics and tricky spelling words, spelling scrabble! We have loved using this resource to help us work out the letters and sounds in our words, we are still getting the hang of it.

In numeracy we have continued with our focus on time, exploring 10 minute time intervals and working out new times based on ‘quarter past’ and ‘quarter to’ times. We have been doing this through group games which has allowed the children to discuss their thinking with each other and support each other in any challenges they come across.

We have continued with our Japan topic by researching different regions of the country and collecting evidence in our floorbooks. We have also really challenged ourselves to draw 3D Pagoda’s for our art this week! We love how different each version is as it captures all the different Pagoda’s found around Japan. We have also introduced some Japanese into our class as attention grabbers such as “Kon’nichiwa” and “sensei”.

For PE this week we have continued with our Hockey block through group games focused on passing and receiving.
