Description

This course develops literacy skills by giving learners opportunities to read, listen and talk in Spanish and to reflect on how this relates to English. It enables learners to understand and use the language, to apply their knowledge and to develop planning, research and language skills.

Who might choose this subject?

Spanish ranks as the world’s No. 2 language in terms of how many people speak it as their first language. It is the fourth most widely spoken language (44 countries) behind English (112 countries), French (60) and Arabic (57). Spanish is also one of the world’s most phonetic languages. If you know how a word is spelled, you can almost always know how it is pronounced.

Through Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, you will learn how to use the language in personal and social situations, in everyday life and in the world of work. Spanish allows learners to appreciate the society and culture of another country, while developing qualities necessary to live and work in a multilingual environment.
