INTRODUCTION 

Biology is about learning how living organisms work from the tiny cells we and all living things begin from; to the way they develop and grow into fascinating creatures.

Biology is delivered throughout the Broad General Education (BGE) and is offered in the Senior Phase up to Higher Level.

Broad General Education

Senior Phase

You will study the following areas of Biology under various topics at National 3, 4 or 5 level.

  • Cell Biology
  • Multicellular Processes
  • Life on Earth

At Higher Level the course provides opportunities for you to acquire knowledge and understanding of biological concepts, facts, ideas and techniques and the applications of biology in society and industry.   The content demonstrates the importance of biochemistry, molecular biology and ecological/environmental issues on modern biology.

Learning Experiences

We work hard to make our lessons interesting, demanding and relevant whilst encouraging pupils to do their best and supporting them in any way we can.

This will be done through notes, debates, scientific discussion, group work, working independently, research tasks, group and individual presentations and scientific investigations.
