Curriculum
In French you will have the opportunity to develop your skills of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. You will also be introduced to various elements of French culture through the media of film, music and internet.
Broad General Education
All pupils in the BGE will experience a curriculum that offers an understanding of key aspects of language. They will undertake a variety of learning activities to explore the subject, including but not limited to:

Senior Phase
Pupils will undertake 4 assessments for National 4 and National 5 – one speaking, one listening, one reading and one writing. Pupils will also complete an Added Value Unit.

Learning Experiences
In the French department you will have the opportunity to work individually and in groups. You will be able to access a variety of resources including excellent interactive and ICT packages. Where possible, you will be using authentic French materials and you may have the opportunity to communicate with pupils in a French school as part of your course.
Life & Work
By developing your foreign language skills, the Modern Languages department hopes to help you have a greater understanding of your own language and to help you to build personal skills such as confidence and to make yourself a more attractive prospect for future employers.
For people with a good modern language qualification, rewarding careers are available in the areas of teaching; transport, travel and tourism; sales and marketing; finance; food and drink.
