COP26 Volunteer Programme

The UK will host the international summit at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow on 1 – 12 November 2021 and Glasgow City Council is looking for a team of around 1000 friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic volunteers to support the staging of this globally significant event.

Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to step forward and submit their application at www.ukcop26.org/volunteer. Applications are open now until Wednesday, 31 March.

These vital climate talks are expected to bring together the largest gathering of heads of state ever hosted in the UK, alongside climate experts and campaigners, to agree coordinated action to tackle the climate emergency.

A variety of volunteer roles will be available in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, including providing information on the conference and the venues, supporting delegates staying in and travelling around the city, and promoting the best of what Glasgow and Scotland has to offer.

Successful Proxy Authentication Connections on iPads

We know that a lot of staff and pupils have been experiencing proxy authentication issues on school iPads.

We had previously published the following help and tips page through Sway: https://sway.office.com/wRYnDRoxD3SkqV3d?ref=Link

We have updated this today (second video in the Sway presentation).

All are reminded that, even if the proxy authentication issue persists, school iPads can still be used to access Teams, Outlook and almost all mediums being used to deliver online learning.

The local authority ICT team are currently taking steps to reduce the incidence of proxy authentication problems.

Foundation Apprenticeship Applications Open-11/01/21

Applications for Foundation Apprenticeships open today 11/01/21 for pupils in S5 who are returning to school for S6.

Please see below message shared with S5 pupils today via Teams

Foundation Apprenticeship applications for S6 open today. You should have recently seen a presentation from Tracey Parker about Foundation Apprenticeships, I have attached it below for anyone who would like to revisit it.
Foundation Apprenticeships are a fantastic opportunity to experience college/ the work place before you leave school. They allow you to achieve a Level 6 qualification which is equivalent to a Higher. They take place all day on a Tuesday and a Thursday which means you will have to think carefully about your subject commitments for next year. Below is the process for applying
  1. You apply via this website- www.fapglasgow.scot
  2. Select apply now (S6 applications) top right hand corner of page.
  3. Choose which course(s) you would like to apply for
  4. Don’t worry if it asks for a teacher reference, just submit and I will fill this out later.
  5. Send me an email once you have applied. gw12richardsonjack@glow.sch.uk
If you have any questions at all please let me know. Spaces fill up fast and are first come, first served so I would recommend applying quickly. Even if you are not 100% sure you want to do it, it is easier to withdraw from the course than to be accepted at a later date so just go for it.
Kind regards,
Mr Richardson.
