Selection of options for S5 pupils moving into S6
We will commence selection of S6 options 14.06.21. To ensure you are familiar with the process, options available and deadlines please see the following presentation:
Although options choices are to be collected electronically, we have produced a ‘virtual’ options choice ‘sheet’ for illustration purposes:
Only after you have viewed the presentation are are familiar with the options available in the structure above should you proceed to select final options. The only way to select options is through the online form which is available here:
The form will close on 20.06.21 (Sunday) at midnight to allow the creation of timetables commencing Monday 21.06.21. If you do not make a choice while the form is open you will thereafter be able to make choices once we return to school in August.
A letter has been issued to parents expanding on all of the detail above and we would encourage that the contents of this are shared and discussed with pupils.
UPDATE (Previously Published) 03.03.2021 We will introduce S5 pupils to something called the 'Scoping Exercise' on Friday 05.03.2021 at the online assembly. Mr Brown explains what it is and why we do it here. The actual Scoping Exercise form will be available using this link (opens after the assembly):
UPDATE 01.03.2021 We have reached the point in the year where S5 pupils must now start to think about the move to S6 or a pathway beyond HHS. We will start the process properly at Mr Neil’s virtual assembly, Friday 05.03.2021. Here is a introductory presentation about some of what we are doing and why: CLICK HERE!
Previously published (March 2020): For the 2020-2021 S6 year the school plans to offer an increased breadth of courses. To help measure the demand for different subjects and desired combinations of options the school has asked all S5 pupils to participate in a Scoping Exercise. This has shaped the options structure that will be used to select final options for S6. The Scoping Exercise asked S5 pupils to identify preferences from an extensive range of options. From the information received it is hoped that as many of these options as possible will be available for final selection. The Scoping Exercise response indicated a healthy number of pupils intend to return for S6. From analysis of the data collected in the Scoping Exercise an options structure has been created. The pattern of options in this structure is the one that satisfies the highest possible number of combinations of options identified in the Scoping Exercise. This method has been used so as to satisfy as many pupils as possible; Working to deliver as many people as possible the combinations of subjects they want. If you did not participate and have decided to stay for S6 you are still very much welcome to return. The link to the final options form will go live here 08.06.20 PLEASE FOLLOW ACCESS ALL SUPPORT INFORMATION MADE AVAILABLE. FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE DELIVERED VIA TEAMS FOR THE NEW S6. DO NOT COMPLETE THE FORM UNTIL YOU HAVE VIEWED ALL PRESENTATIONS & DOCUMENTATION.
Please note, all final options will be available depending on:
Indicated uptake from the Scoping Exercise
Number of pupils remaining for S6
Circumstances resulting from the COVID19/ Coronavirus pandemic
