Growth Mindset

Hillhead High school is a Growth Mindset promoting school. Put simply this means that we accept that failure is a part of learning and we believe that intelligence can develop and effort leads to success. We want all of our learners to develop their resilience. Those with a “fixed mindset” may struggle to overcome any setbacks on their learning journey which is why we are looking to develop a Growth Mindset for our students.

We are delighted to be working with John Paul Fitzpatrick from TeachMindset. He is delivering training to a group of S4 pupils on coaching and mentoring the Growth Mindset. Once the pupils have completed their training they will work with a group of S1 pupils to develop their confidence, resilience and help them develop a Growth Mindset.

Here is our group after their first training session!

You can take a test here to see which kind of Mindset you have!

Here are some diagrams that highlight the difference between a Fixed Mindset and a Growth Mindset.
