The Bluebells class enjoyed exploring Harvest play dough mats. We made corn for the corn on the cobs, wheels for the tractors and a hat for the scarecrow.

Afterwards, we were very excited to go swimming! Chloe was so excited, she had her goggles on for most of the afternoon 🙂

Sunflowers go on the bus to Hansel

The Sunflowers class were very excited to go on their first bus trip today.  We were responsible citizens on the bus, and once we got to Hansel we all chose a snack.  We went for a walk around the grounds before it was time to go back to school.

IDL – exploring my local community

Confident Individuals/Successful Learners

The Snowdrops have been out in their local community and visited Tesco supermarket.  We used a pictorial shopping list showing the fruit and vegetables we wanted to buy.  All pupils were able to help find everything on our list; putting items into our trolley and saying or signing vegetable and fruit names.  Great shopping everyone!

Theme: Scented Play-Doh and Musical Food

The Moonbeams have been successful learners this week through their Food and Technologies activities. On Monday they experimented with a variety of foods to create different sounds for musical instruments. The children then compared them to some real musical instruments to see what they sounded most like.

Today the Moonbeams were very responsible as they worked together to create some scented Play-Doh. The children used fresh Mint and Lavender from our school garden and squeezed some fresh Lemons to make lovely smelling Play-Doh. The children then voted to decide which scent was their favourite.

Harvesting Veg

Today we had fun visiting the sensory garden and harvested lots of fruits and veg from the planters, just like Oliver in the story ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’.

We were responsible citizens and made sure that we were carefully pulling out the veg, and were confident individuals when we were smelling different herbs.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The Stars class visited CC’s Chocolate Creations in Kilmarnock to watch the owner, Carol, make fantastic chocolate bars and shapes. Carol invited us to dip marshmallows in melted chocolate. They smelled and tasted delicious. As Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is our theme this term we bought not a golden ticket but a golden bar of chocolate for class. Yum! The rest of the class will visit CC’s Chocolate Creations on our next allocated bus day.

Welcome back!!!

Last Friday we make some lovely seasonal art – two beautiful hedgehogs.

In Science we made a Skittle Rainbow. By placing Skittles round a plate and pouring really warm water on them – step back and watch the magic!!!

The afternoon was spent enjoying the company of the others in secondary and raising some money for McMillan. Jessica also raised money for Jeans for Genes!!!!

This week has been great because Adam is back – and we were all so pleased to see him and he was pleased to see us too!!

In Home Economics we made Jelly Pots – so we counted in some different  sweets, watched some rise and some sink and when we saw them later the runny mixture had set!!! Just like the jelly in our story.

Reece enjoyed a bubbly foot spa in Sensory play.

And Shannon impressed us in her lift pants.

While Jessica was in her Standing Frame Jacob kept her entertained with the Switch IT Songs.

Today we walked down the Primary corridor and looked for the pictures for our literacy hunt. And this afternoon enjoyed relaxation and Tac-Pac!!
