A Visit to the Library!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Bluebells class went a walk to the Dick Institute library. We found some Scottish and Christmas story books that we borrowed to bring back to school.

We also explored the Remembrance garden since we had recently had a two minute silence in school.

Finally, we practised crossing the road safely. This time, not using the green man, but using a lollipop man!

Schools around the world FAOL

Comet class have been looking at how different schools are around the world. We looked closely at America, China, Kenya and Japan. We watched videos about each school, spoke about it as a class and then ended with a quiz! Some of us wanted to stay in Scotland but lots of us wanted to travel the world!

I Spy in the Sensory Garden!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Bluebells class worked in teams during a game of “I Spy”. We had to find a range of items on our list and take a photo of them on our iPad. We looked for bus stops, red cars, white vans, windmills, a tree and a bird.

The Bluebells class made lentil soup during our cookery session this week. We peeled and grated carrots and peeled and chopped potatoes, onions and leeks.

We loved doing this and hope to make some more flavours soon.

FAOL Whole School Projects

Effective contributors/Successful learners

The Snowdrops have created a large Christmas bauble decoration to be displayed in our school atrium.  We have made confident choices of different coloured textures – glittery colours were popular.  Everyone demonstrated good fine motor skills, gluing and sticking lots of textures onto our bauble shape.  We think it’s going to look very effective on the wall.  Look out for it when you visit our Christmas market!

‘50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ National Trust initiative

The Beech class were effective contributors as we took part in and enjoyed our (very cold) outing this morning to the Kay Park to complete our ’50 things’ challenges.

We agree to:

1. Take a wintery walk

2. Take part in a nature scavenger hunt

3. Try to skim a stone

We didn’t have much luck skimming stone…mostly because the water has turned to ice! So we had a stone throwing competition to see who could throw a stone the farthest distance.

We also didn’t find many things on our checklist but still had fun!

We were so cold when we got back to school we decided to heat ourselves up with some hot chocolate and a Christmas film 🙂
