Fun Week in the Oak Class

This week in the Oak class we welcomed back some more pupils to our blended model.  We are counting down the days until we are all back together as a whole class.

This week we celebrated St Patrick’s Day and Red Nose Day.

Everyone was also successful learners during our literacy tasks.

Our Theme for Red Nose Day was using laughter as means to help us all through difficult times.  Lockdown has been hard for everyone, and we need to think about what we enjoy doing and what makes us happy.  We were effective contributors and shared with our friends the activities that make us laugh.

Some of the answers were hearing other people laughing and the others were listening to our favourite stories being read in an animated way.

Red Nose Day

Effective Contributors/ Successful learners

Today was Red Nose Day. We all dressed down and some of us wore red. We tried on red noses and tasted different red foods. We circled either the happy or sad face to show if we liked or disliked an item. We matched pictures of all the special red noses for this year – it was lots of fun.  We also had lots of fun and interactions with our friends in the soft play today – giving lots of eye contact and smiles.

Successful Learners

The Sunflowers class enjoyed using a variety of sensory materials to write their name.  We practiced pencil control and also letter formation using foam, salt, magnetic letters, counters and stickers.  The children are aware of their own identity and are able to match and point to their name and photo each day.  They can move their names from home to school during our morning group and spot their peers on the board.

Confident Individuals with Science

As part of science week some of the boys investigated the browning of apples. They were Confident Individuals adding each solution to the cut apples and making predictions about the efficacy of each. We discovered that lemon juice was the most efficient at preventing browning, with vinegar a close second. Apple slices with lemon tastes OK but the ones with vinegar were a bit sour!
