Successful Learners – Christmas Numeracy

The Transition boys were Successful Learners while doing their numeracy which was Christmas related. Some of the boys played games throwing a dice and counting while others sorted decorations into size order.

Effective Contributors – Kick Rounders

The Transition boys were outside practising their skills with the football. The boys took turns at kicking the ball and gave support to others with clapping when someone hit the target. This made the boys Effective Contributors. They applied their kicking skills to the game to try and send the ball away from the fielders to try and get a home run.

Effective Contributors – 50 things to do outside

The Transition boys enjoyed being outside making directional  arrows out of twigs for others to follow to find a hidden prize, They worked well together making them Effective Contributors.

Confident Individuals – Music

The Transition boys had fantastic rhythm during music, making them Confidant Individuals. The boys kept rhythm with fast and Christmas songs slow songs and made their own rhythms. We had some amazingly complex rhythms in the room!

Confident Individuals – Christmas Craft

The Transition boys have been working like Santa’s Elves getting their Christmas Craft ready. They have been Confident Individuals working with different techniques to make their finished product. No peeking until Christmas though!

Responsible Citizens – Santa Letters

Continuing our Christmas work, the Transition boys started writing their letters to Santa this week. They were all Responsible Citizens remembering to use manners when constructing their letters. The boys each had a copy of the book of dreams for inspiration.

Successful Learners – Scottish Poetry IDL St Andrews

As it was St Andrew’s Day on Monday, the Transition class studied a Scottish poem called ‘Mince and Tatties’ by J.K. Annand. The boys were all Successful Learners. Activities  included, sequencing the poem, matching the key elements of the poem and writing and understanding the poem. Just like the poem, we all thought that mince and tatties were Smashin!

Confident Individuals – Leaving School

The Transition boys were Confident Individuals when they filled out charts to tell how they were feeling about either leaving school or about how they feel about their friends leaving school.

Successful Learners – Literacy and Numeracy

The boys in Transition were Successful Learners as they worked through their numeracy and literacy tasks. Some tasks were group activities and the boys were Effective Contributors. The literacy and numeracy tasks are beginning to take on a Christmas flavour.

Responsible Citizens – Children In Need

It was an unusual Children In Need day in the Transition class this year. We were unable to join up with our friends in other classes. The boys were still Responsible Citizens and took part in different activities to mark the day. We had a social time at snack time, some Pudsey art was created including a few masks and to end the day we all attempted to learn the Strictly Children In Need dance. The boys outshone the staff at this!
