Willowbank School, KilmarnockThe Transition class took advantage of the good weather and got out into the park. The were Effective Contributors working on the target ‘Big Trees’ from their list of 50 things to do in the outdoors. We built a shelter using trees for support. We made some bark rubbings and even had time for a bit of tree hugging!
Half the class had the opportunity to go on their community travel outing this week. They combined their trip out with one of their 50 Things to do in the Outdoors. This activity was flying a kite. The group were Responsible Citizens when crossing the road and walking to the park. The wind was variable but everyone managed to get the kite into the air. One pupil (who will remain nameless) managed to crash it into Mr Nicoll’s head. I hope it was an accident!
As part of the 50 Things to do in the Outdoors, the Transition class learned about geese and their flight formations. We spent some time outside with our eyes to the sky looking for them. Hopefully we will see more over the coming weeks!
The Transition boys enjoyed being outside making directional arrows out of twigs for others to follow to find a hidden prize, They worked well together making them Effective Contributors.
