Activities this week

We made a variation of Pigs using paper and milk cartons.  This year it is the year of the PIG for Chinese New Year.

We have been confident individuals when carrying out our jobs within the class.  Jack was excellent at using full sentences when asking is his friends what they would like for their lunch.

Patrick came to pay us a visit at snack time, I think he could smell the toast. Anthony cleaned the table after snack, whilst Jack washed the dishes and Blake dried them.  Very effective contributors working together to tidy up after snack times.

We created our own clocks to help us understand how to tell the time, using analogue and digital formats.

The Oak boy band are still working hard and being successful leaners when learning new songs to play on the keyboard and their other chosen instruments.

Global Goal 6

We learned about clean water today and how lucky we are to have easy access to clean drinking water.  The boys all made a choice of which glass of water they would like to drink, they all chose the clean water…..apart from Sean he reached for the dirty water and tried to have a drink!

We had a discussion about what would happen if we let Sean drink the dirty water and the effects it would have on our body.

All boys were successful learners, very engaged and attentive, we then watched a water walk video.  One girl had to walk 8 miles every day to get dirty drinking water.  As a class we measured how many steps it would take us to get a glass of clean drinking water.  We created a graph to compare our steps to the girl in the video.

We also experienced walking ten steps with a bucket on our head.  Some boys clearly did not like but others told us they liked the weight on their head.

Oak Outing

This week in class we did some café role play during our maths work.  We shared the menu with a friend and chose something to eat and drink.  We then had to look at the price and hand over the correct coins. We also worked on our communication skills and had a practice of using our words supported with signs to make our order.

It was a lovely sunny fresh morning to walk  to the Coffee Trader and each boy was confident individuals and successful learners at placing their order and choosing the correct coins.

This week we have been working hard on signing our Scottish poem ‘Cuddle Doon’.  They were all very successful and listening and following the signs.

We played some time telling games with our friends and had fun whilst working hard.

Jack worked very hard this week working on his writing and listening skills.

All the boys created a Christmas holiday storyboard and shared it with their friends.  We were successful learners and confident individuals to share what Santa brought us, what we had for Christmas dinner, who we had dinner with and any other activities we took part in over the holidays.
