FAOL – Science

Skittles science

We have been exploring science materials all week. This afternoon we put a small layer of water into the bottom of some white plates. Some of children lined the skittles around the plate and waited patiently for the colour to run to create our own rainbow art as the colour runs from the skittles. We also used some M&Ms to see the difference in the colours.

MOVE Group

We love coming together each week as a MOVE group and being confident individuals whilst taking part in a variety of lessons.  This week we tried some science experiments (that had already been tested and knew they would be successful).

We were also lucky this week to have a session with Kelly and Cooper for some dog therapy.

After this we returned to class and played some music along to ‘I Love My Life’.

We took part in all these activities whilst working on a lot of our MOVE skills and the main part was we had fun doing it.

FAOL Sciences- Weather Changes

We have been responsible citizens and observed Scottish weather and have enjoyed acting as weather reporter each morning to share what the weather is like each day.

We created our own weather symbols, then used the SmartBoard to report the weather to our classmates.

Some of the boys were able to tell us what happening to the gingerbread men in the different substances.

SCIENCE – ice fun

On Thursday we had lots of fun with ice. We enjoyed rolling the balls of ice across the tuft tray. We were trying to melt the ice by warming it up in our hands. We even borrowed the kettle. We watched the steam come out and then Miss Hill poured it over the ice and watched the ice pieces get a little smaller.

FAOL – ECO – Clean Water and Sanitation

The Stars Class made a rain catcher to collect water in the garden. We sieved it through paper to see how clean it was to drink. It was full of dirt and leaves. We are so lucky to have clean water from the tap to drink and wash in. Some boys and girls from abroad are not so lucky and have to drink dirty water from rivers or lakes. We have also planted spring bulbs in the garden. We hope they will grow into colourful daffodils and tulips.
