Remembrance Day

*Responsible Citizens    *Successful Learners

The Stars Class made ‘spinning’ poppies which we used to embellish a Remembrance poster for the classroom door. We made tasty iced poppy biscuits, split pin poppies as well as stopping for a 1 minute silence. We talked about why people buy and wear poppies.

The pupils in the Sungazers set up their own class cafe this term with a Farm to Fork twist as part of our theme. We added some freshly prepared snacks to the menu using farm fresh produce. Each week, the pupils have taken on different roles to ensure the cafe runs smoothly. Here are some photos of our responsible citizens fulfilling their roles:

Our Eco Vice Captain was being a responsible citizen and showing her support for COP26.

SQA Numeracy is always better fun when there is Dominoes involved!!!

Counting up and making choices – what successful learners we are!!

SQA Baking – we were voting on what we are going to make, will it be pizza, scones, cupcakes or chocolate chip cookies???

And the winner was Chocolate Chip Cookies!!!

In Literacy we are still working on the Letter D – this week we made Doughnuts(not real ones!!) for out Alphabet Books.

Lots of careful ripping, sticking and of course glittering!!

Remember, remember the 5th of November! Fireworks night soon, we make some cool pictures, using a different art technique – effective!!!

We have been responsible citizens and keeping ourselves informed via  Global Goals online.

Thursday was a lovely afternoon so we went outside to the playground.

We’ve had a busy week in the Sungazers class! We learned about Road Safety and even learned a rap to remind us how to stay safe when crossing the road. We had some good poses:

We also learned about how to keep ourselves safe on Bonfire Night. To celebrate the 5th November, we made some healthy (and some not so healthy) edible sparklers!

Have a lovely Bonfire Night & weekend everyone!

FAOL Global Goals

Confident Individuals/Responsible Citizens/Successful Learners

The Asteroids have been learning about road safety with the help of Super Cat. We had great fun listening to the story, joining in with words and actions of the safety rap, road safety games, sorting out safe and unsafe situations and making our own Stop, Look, Listen and Think signs.

Well done, Asteroids!

FAOL – RRS: Friendship and Working Together

*Confident Individuals*    *Successful Learners*   *Responsible Citizens*  *Effective Contributors*

This term, the Snowdrops have been discussing what make a good friend.  They enjoy identifying their class friends through photographs and written names labels.  During choosing times, pupils are given the opportunity to choose a friend to play with and enjoy an activity together.  This has encouraged good friendship skills such as sharing and turn taking.

We have also made lovely posters with pictures of what makes a good friend.

Eco Friendly Pumpkins – Waste management

*Responsible Citizens*  *Effective Contributors*   *Successful Learners*

As part of our Eco targets and Globals Goals this year, we took on the challenge of making Eco friendly pumpkins.  We had great fun carving our pumpkins and creating autumnal artwork with them. We then decided to turn our pumkins into bird feeders.

It is good fun carving pumpkins but we are really  wasting food if they are just left to rot.  By filling them with bird seed we are helping to reduce our food waste footprint whilst also feeding the birds that visit our sensory garden.

Celebrating Diwali

Successful Learners/Confident Individuals/Responsible Citizens

The Asteroids celebrated Diwali this morning – the Festival of Lights.

We practised the Diwali Makaton sign and learned about the different things people do to celebrate Diwali. One of these being creating a Rangoli to place at their front doors. These are very colourful and we made our very own using different shapes, pom poms and glitter. We even threaded some beads to make tassels for it! We enjoyed celebrating light over darkness by having our own sensory light experience inthe classroom.

Well done, Asteroids!
