IDL- Fairy tale story sequencing

The Comets were successful learners during our fairy tale story sequencing task.  After listening carefully to the story of Goldilocks and the Three bears ,we were set the challenge of sorting images from the book into the correct order. We used the book to check that our answers were correct before sticking them down.

Successful Learners – Digital Literacy

The Transition class continued studying Peter Pan and all answered their own reading and understanding questions. The boys had different tasks to do and were all Successful Learners. We had two different ways to understand words. We typed some into an online dictionary and read the definition before selecting the correct answers on the quiz and we had help understanding that some characters were ‘looping’ as they flew when loops were drawn on the board. This made it clear for the class.

Some boys sequenced and matched sentences to help the class understand what happened in the chapter and in what order.

Confident Individuals – Listening skills

The Transition boys were Confident Individuals this week when they had an opportunity to work on their listening skills. The boys played a series of computer games where they had to wait for the bell before pressing the switch. However, if they waited too long after the bell then they missed their opportunity to score points. Two favourite games were scoring goals and playing through different adventure levels to find the treasure.

Successful Learners – Literacy

The Transition boys put in great effort this week with their Literacy work. They were all Succesful Learners. They answered tricky questions on Peter Pan on the interactive board. Keiran helped us understand the word rummage by demonstrating it to the class. Some boys typed in answers and some clicked and dragged to make connections or sequences. The last question was particularly difficult, but with few revisions we managed to get a class score of 100%. Well done boys!

It has been all about Literacy this week.

In the Oak class we have worked hard on our literacy, listening and talking skills.  We have all been confident individuals when looking and describing what we see in pictures.  We enjoyed looking at our self in the mirror, we have a class who really enjoy admiring themselves.

Everyone had to complete a portrait of themselves and then confidently stand and share their features of hair colour and eye colour to the class.  We were very proud of the loud clear and confident voices used when talking to their friends.

We have been working on improving our reading skills and recognising the sound two letters make when they are put together.  We were successful learners working on our own sounds and could roll and read the words.

We have had effective contributors working well with a partner to complete a jigsaw puzzle with some gestural support from an adult.  Lots of great team work and problem solving whilst working against the clock to complete.

Successful Learners – Digital Literacy

The Transition boys were Successful Learners this week when they learned about frogs during a literacy lesson. We used the Giglets website to read and listen to a description of the life cycle of a frog. The boys were then tested on what they remembered with an online quiz. 100% correct!

Together Again in Oak

We are very happy to have almost the everyone within the Oak class back for their first full week!

We have jumped straight back into our usual routine and back on top of things with a very busy week filled with lots of hard work.

They have all been confident individuals in all the tasks that have been set.

In literacy we have completed lots of listening and comprehension tasks, along with working on our reading and forming sentences in a logical order.

This week in numeracy we have been recapping and checking our knowledge on our time and money work.

We love to be very active in the Oak class and we have enjoyed lots of sensory movement breaks to help us refocus between all our hard work tasks.  Here we have two very flexible young men taking part in our yoga session.  We do yoga every day before we have lunch.

This week as part of our Health and Well-being work and Rights Respecting School we have been thinking about talking about what makes a good friend.  Everyone confidently identified their friend then gave some great answers as to why they are their friend.

We have been working on our individual activities that have been set for us to help improve our fine motor skills and hand grip.
