We had a fantastic Superhero Day celebrating MOVE. We enjoyed superhero cupcakes and created masks. We played games using the Captain America shields we made yesterday and enjoyed a super villain game. We danced, did exercises and watched the MOVE video which showcased all the great MOVE activities we do at Willowbank. A very happy day.
The Transition boys were Confident Individuals when they completed some work about friends leaving school. They chose a favourite photograph of themselves and a leaver and shared how it made them feel. They also shared how they felt about their friends leaving.

Responsible Citizens – First Aid
The Transition boys were Responsible Citizens this week when the classroom staff repeatedly burnt their hands. Clumsy! The boys accurately demonstrated what to do by placing the burnt hand under running cool water for ten minutes. Well done boys!

Cycling Fun at Willowbank

The school has just received this wonderful bicycle and two of the Stars class boys had their first shot on it today. It was fantastic! What fun they had. Lots more goes to come!
During Health and Wellbeing time in class the Transition boys were Confident Individuals when looking at food labels and selecting healthy foods. Some boys played top trumps with the labels trying to select foods that had the best salt, fat and sugar content. The rest of the class helped plan a celebration menu but tried their best to make it balanced and mostly healthy. I think fizzy juice was snuck onto the list!
The Transition class were Effective Contributors when they took part in their Health and Wellbeing Lessons this week. They were learning skills to play rounders. Each boy practiced hitting the ball and then throwing it towards a target. The Major Baseball League is the obvious next step!

Healthy ham sandwiches- life skills
Comets have been learning about how to prepare different types of healthy food. This week we washed and chopped different types of salad in a safe and responsible way.
The children then selected what they wanted to include in their ham salad sandwich. We were all confident individuals and were able to identify our likes and dislikes.

This week the Stars class have planted onions and sunflower seeds. Hopefully they will grow well. We grew a baby dinosaur and explored frozen dinosaur eggs, We are creating a mod roc dinosaur head for our wall display. It will look good when painted. We modelled dinosaurs out of playdoh. Can you recognise them?

Making a bear sandwich.
We looked at the ingredients we needed to make a bear sandwich. We needed bread, chocolate spread, banana and blueberries. We each got a slice of bread and used a knife to spread the chocolate spread on the bread. We then sliced the banana to create a nose and ears for the bear. We then chose blueberries to add to make two eyes and the tip of his nose. The boys loved creating this and were able to spread with physical support from staff. They enjoyed seeing their final creation and some tried it at snack time.
