The Stars class used potatoes and onions we grew in the garden to make vegetable soup at H.E. We worked really hard to prepare and chop the vegetables. It tasted delicious.

The Stars Class have been getting to know our new class these past two weeks. We have been playing ‘getting to know you’ games and have been enjoying time outside in the sunshine. We worked hard clearing the weeds that had grown over the summer in our planter. They were huge! After the weeds were removed we were able to find the potatoes, onions and peas that we had grown. We discussed our feelings and emotions then made playdoh faces. See if you can recognise our emotions – happy, sad, upset, angry, surprised, excited and sleepy.
The Stars class have planted vegetable plants in the school garden. We have planted peas, courgettes, pumpkins, carrots, onions and potatoes. We keep them well watered and hope we will have a healthy crop of vegetables to harvest after the holidays.
The Stars Class have been looking at what makes us different. We compared hair colour, interests, favourite foods, pets and eye colour. We made a pictogram to show our eye colour differences.
The Stars class have been practising hard for the school sports. We have created ‘cork’ hats for out Australian themed race. We had fantastic fun at our practice.
We had a fantastic summer trip to the Science Centre today. Lots of exhibits to explore and we visited a ‘Fun With Forces’ workshop where we worked with magnets and rockets. Our sociable lunch was pretty good too.
Today our numeracy group explored the ‘sock box’. We counted, matched patterns, compared colours and size, had a treasure hunt and felt different textures. We all had a happy session.
The Stars class enjoyed World Down’s Syndrome Day activities, especially our sock box. We also tackled the Big Pedal assault course with gusto! Music Therapy was great too! It was a fun week for all.
We have been out in the playground running and on bikes this week. Today we are going to complete and course in the hall. We will have lots of fun and increase our daily step count. We have to ran, went under a parachute, threw a ball in a net, went in between cones, punched the punch bag and scored a goal to finish. We worked together with the Daisies class and raced each other around the course. We were confident individuals and successful learners as we were able to complete the course.
The Stars class enjoyed various World Book Week activities. We created bunting, dressed up and had a parade, brought in our favourite books to share, had a book swap, treasure hunt, enjoyed an author visit and read books on video, e-book and at the Dick Institute. We all enjoyed the experiences very much. However, let’s not forget, we made pancakes on Shrove Tuesday too!
