On Thursday the boys in Transition were all Effective Contributors when working in the cookery room. We have been focusing on healthy treats in cooking over the past while and decided the boys deserved a wee treat so we made some flapjacks. There was no picture of the final product as the whole thing was devoured by both boys and staff.

Counting is fun
The Transition boys numeracy lesson was outside this week where they had to find different ways to count to ten. First they looked around the gardens and collected ten pinecones, they then split then into two groups so the total was ten. The boys discovered that there were many ways to make a total of ten. They showed that they where all Confident Individuals and Successful Learners
Eating 5 a day
The boys in the Transition class were all Effective Contributors today in the cookery room. They were practising their peeling and chopping skills and made a nice healthy fruit salad.
Fun With Maths
The Transition boys were Effective Contributors by identifying correct value sequence for their coins. Later in the week the boys discovered the mass of sugar in popular drinks and then weighed out the sugar into bags for a wall display. Some soft drinks have a lot of sugar in them! All the Boys were Successful Learners.
Mexican Music
We have been having lots of fun exploring Mexico through our new theme. Today we listened to mariachi music, and played along with our own instruments.
We were effective contributors through playing along with our own instruments and were successful learners as we explored two new instruments- Guitars and Drums!
Gardening? You can count on it!
With the good weather this week the Transition boys got out into the garden and applied their numeracy skills. The garden needed a tidy and the boys were Effective Contributors collecting the tires and arranging them in pairs. The used their knowledge of the two times table to count the total number of tires. Later in the week our peas needed some support so the boys applied their measuring skills to cut and create a wire support.
Easter Activities
The Stars Class had a week full of Easter activities. We made, and ate!, Easter egg shaped pizza’s, decorated eggs for rolling, created an Easter card and Jelly Bean Bunnies and made chocolate nests to send home. We met spring lambs and explored the different ways people celebrate Easter.
We mixed together melted chocolate and cornflakes to create yummy Easter nests complete with a chicken and eggs. We took one home to share with our families.
A Chocolate Egg-sperience!
The Transition boys were very happy to have another excuse to have chocolate! They boys were all Effective Contributors when they coated balloons with chocolate to make their own Easter eggs. At time of writing the chocolate hadn’t set. Watch this space to find out how successful we were!
Egg-cellent Easter Cacti
The Transition boys were Effective Contributors when they successfully planned and completed the decoration of their eggs for Easter. The boys chose a cactus theme and contributed to an overall display. They all learned how to stain their eggs and then add the fine detail. The class then had great fun rolling their eggs on Thursday morning.
