Willowbank School, KilmarnockThe transition boys were all Effective Contributors in cooking today. We ppicked Courgettes that had been grown in the school garden and used them to make a lovely pasta dish. The boys had also decided they would like to make nachos to go with this. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to get a final photo of the dish we made as it was gone within seconds.
The Stars Class were busy doing lots of maths activities this week. We explored number, colour, symmetry, shape and measurement using duplo and enormous bricks.
Transition boys were effective contributors at cookery today. We made tasty pancakes with amazing toppings. Yummy!
The Transition boys 2nd STEM challenge of the afternoon was to build a tower out of spaghetti. They were all Effective Contributors when building their towers. The two tallest were Patrick’s and Oliver’s. Some even put the leaning Tower of Pisa to shame.
We led assembly this week which was on the theme of friendship. We told the story of ‘Rainbow Fish’ then showed everyone all the friendship activities and art work we’d done. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.
We have started to compile an ‘All About Me’ booklet as part of our new theme, Nanny McPhee.
The Stars Class enjoyed making Mexican Quesadillas at HE and had a colour treasure hunt in the garden. We were able to match all the colours. We made a poster to highlight UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, article 15, ‘You have the right to choose your own friends’. We are getting to know our new classmates and created playdoh faces to display.
The Stars Class have been getting to know each other by talking about friendship and doing activities together. We made a birthday board based on ‘The Greatest Showman’ and compiled a Class Charter. In the Garden we harvested carrots and courgettes we’d grown and made a tasty stir fry at H.E.
Transition boys were effective contributors working together to make delicious breakfast rolls.
