Children in Need 2021

The Bluebells were confident individuals and successful learners while taking part in class activities to learn about Children in Need. We enjoyed the story Pudsey’s Great Fundraiser and engaged well with the sensory props. We got crafty making our own headband to transform us into Pudsey. We enjoyed watching the Children in Need duck race and raced our own ducks down ramps.

Children in Need in the Pine Room

This week we were looking at the letter E again in literacy, looking at words that beginning with this letter and in art we were successful learners and made a picture of a egg using tissue paper squares and PVA glue.

In SQA Communication we finished our Brown Bear Story, we sorted through the characters again, signed the animals and colours, danced along to the rap, and worked on our colouring books.

Karen was here on Wednesday to do some Indian Dance with us focusing on Animals that started with the letter E – we were very confident individuals and had great fun.

For SQA Numeracy we played a game of ‘Haggis Drive’, as we have started our Scottish Theme, working on our counting skills and drawing in the pieces of the Haggis.

Each class has a paper  lantern to decorate to be displayed in the Atrium for Christmas, with our Vice ECO Captain we decided on a very topical theme of Global Warming!!!

Give the Snowman back his hat back!!!

So our Snowman is starting to melt – remember reuse, recycle and reduce!!!

Working on another Christmas Project.

For Children in Need we enjoyed a lovely social snack, had a wee Disco (not as long as Sophie Eliis-Bextor’s!!) And made some dotty Pugsy Faces.

Have a Smashing Weekend Everyone!!!

Lost #50 Things

Yesterday, the Asteroids had lots of fun in the garden playing a game of Hide and Seek. Firstly, we had to choose who was going to look and who was going to hide. When the boys were looking, they did a good job of counting to 20 before going off to find their friends. Then those who were hiding chose places such as behind trees and sheds and even under bushes!

Confident Individuals – SQA Healthy Eating

Some of the Transition class had their turn to cook bacon and eggs in a healthy way this week. They were all Confident Individuals  safely using a hot grill, whisking, making toast and spreading butter. They chose grilling bacon and microwaving scrambled eggs as their healthy preparation choices.

We embellished CD’s with jewels and glitter then hung them in the sensory garden. They spun in the wind and sparkled in the sunshine. They made lovely garden ornaments.

FAOL – ENTERPRISE: FARM TO FORK CAFE

*Responsible Citizens* *Confident Individuals* *Effective Contributors*

The pupils in the Sungazers set up their own class cafe this term with a Farm to Fork twist as part of our theme. We added some freshly prepared snacks to the menu using farm fresh produce. Each week, the pupils have taken on different roles to ensure the cafe runs smoothly. Here are some photos of our responsible citizens fulfilling their roles:

50 Things – Chalk Art

What a lot of fun we had drawing outside with chalk!

We confidently chose our own colours from the box and attempted to make firework pictures.

Some of us even lay down on the ground and let our friends draw round us. We enjoyed looking at our shape on the ground once we stood up.

Confident Individuals – Healthy Eating

Bacon and eggs were the order of the day when half of the Transition class took part in their practical cookery lesson. There were all Confident Individuals when they chose a healthier way to prepare bacon (grill) and eggs (scrambled). They used the hot grill very safely and microwaved the eggs. Some pupils used the switches to help start and stop the microwave so that the eggs were cooked to perfection. Only one complaint – Mr Nicoll never saw a scrap of bacon or eggs!
