The Bluebells class have worked hard this term learning about how to keep safe near busy roads. We have been practising on social walks crossing with the green man, explored playdough mats related to road safety, went on a red and green man hunt around the school and finally enjoyed some move and groove sessions with the red and green man.
We used active learning in numeracy today to bring direction to life. We had fun moving the cars and the adults in the directions that were called out and shown on the cards.
We were successful learners when given gestural prompts for the given direction.
We chose a partner to play a game with, we were confident individuals when choosing a partner, choosing a game and we played the games with minimal adult support.
Soldier Sangster standing to attention! The Oak class enjoyed delivering our Remembrance Assembly to the Secondary classes on Wednesday.
They all worked very hard and everyone had a part to play. They were all confident individuals and effective contributors in respectfully paying tribute to our fallen soldiers.
On our outing this week we went shopping to choose something for our snack, everyone had £1.50 and could choose whatever they wanted as long as it was within their budget.
This is part of our SQA numeracy unit which is handling money.
Everyone had to read the price tag and check they had the correct amount. Some people chose to spend all their money and others chose cheaper items and received change.
We were all responsible citizens and were very aware of road safety.
Confident Individuals/Responsible Citizens
The Snowdrops helped to lead assembly this week, telling all our friends about things we have to remember. We showed everyone our sensory poppies that we had created and explained we wear them to remember the soldiers that helped to keep us safe.
The Pine Class are preparing for Children in Need. The boys and girls created these lovely ‘Pudsey Pictures’ by using pre cut gummed circles, finger paints and pom poms.
Effective contributors today!
The Stars class explored Article 23 – ‘If I have a disability, I have the right to special care and education. We compared a special school in Dubai with Willowbank and found them very similar. Their weather was far better though!
The Daisies class learned all about Remembrance Day, took part in a minute silence and made their own poppies.
