FAOL – Transition CRM Sensory Rose

The boys in the Transition class have been learning about the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh (7 June 1868 – 10 December 1928).

He was a Scottish architect, designer, watercolourist and sculptor and extremely influential within the  Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau in the United Kingdom.

We discussed his famous works and buildings and also the tragic fires which destroyed part of the Glasgow School of Art building where Mrs Macdonald studied.

I’m sure you will agree that these beautiful Mackintosh inspired roses are fabulous! Lots of different sensory textures were used. Well done boys, successful learners.

IDL Music – percussion sounds

Successful Learners  Confident Individuals    Effective Contributors

The Snowdrops have been playing with the Gruffalo Chorus Game on the SMARTboard and have listened to different sounds made by all the Gruffalo story characters.  We decided to make our own sounds for each of the animals.  Everyone enjoyed exploring percussion instruments and the different sounds they could make.  The Snowdrops took turns to choose an animal from the story and then decide which percussion instrument would make their sound.  We made lots of noise, playing our instruments when an animal picture was held up.

IDL HWB – Baking Gruffalo Crumble

Effective Contributors/Successful Learners

We have heard about Gruffalo crumble from our Scottish theme story and decided to bake some for ourselves.   Everyone contributed really well in lots of different ways – touching, tasting, smelling and exploring different crumble ingredients.  We used lots of self-help skills, cutting, mixing and pouring in different ways.  It was very tasty!

FAOL: ECO / Sustainable Development – Work Experience

*Responsible Citizens*   *Confident Individuals*  *Successful Learners*

The Moonbeams have been busy preparing for and making Pizza this week. They created posters to show what flavours of Pizza they were selling and made a shopping list of ingredients to take to Tesco. On Friday afternoon the children very responsibility made the Pizza and then visited the Comets class to sell for 10p per slice. The children used their maths skills to recognise the coins and numbers on the till. They were very happy as we had some left over to take home to their families.
