ECC snack menu’s week beginning 28th Oct

ECC farm

Have a look at our new farm we have for the ECC children to explore through free play.

ECC Bear Hunt

Some of the boys and girls in the ECC enjoyed a bear hunt outdoors with Mr Muir this week. They went swooshing through the long grass, splashing through the river, squelching through the mud, tip toeing through the forest, slipping through the snow storm, then crawling through the den to find a bear!

Sumdog Competition

Primary 2-7 have been entered into the Maths Week Scotland Sumdog Contest. It runs from the 25th September until 1st October. Lets try and see Gargieston on the Leader Board! Good Luck!

PE Outdoors

It was great to see Mr Dearie’s class out doing Crossfit in the lovely autumn sunshine today. Well done, Primary 5!

Garden Work

Well done to the Primary 6s who volunteered to work with Mrs Lawson at lunchtimes and start weeding and clearing the huge amount of weeds which grew over lockdown and the summer. It could take some time to complete but many hands will make light work. Any more P6s who would like to join in would be made very welcome, however you must use your own set of gardening gloves.

A special mention to Alesha and Amy who phoned the council and asked them to come and empty our overflowing bins. The men came the very next day! Well done, girls!

ECC Update

The children in the ECC have had a fantastic time over the last few weeks investigating their first context for learning.

TRIO 1 have been exploring 2D shapes. Learning experiences which have been provided for them include:

Shape hunts outdoors, creating shapes with playdough, creating shape mini beast animals using pebbles, creating shape rockets using letters in their name, drawing a variety of 2D shapes and many more.

TRIO 2 have been investigating colour. Learning experiences which have been provided for them include:

marble painting, bubble painting, splatter painting, colour mixing, colour matching using a variety of materials, colour hunts outdoors and many more.

Children’s interests and views are taken into consideration when planning activities and contexts for learning for each TRIO to explore and learn about.  A mind map will be created with each TRIO after the September weekend to determine what the children would like to learn about next. Have a lovely long weekend.
