P7 -S1 Transition

March 2019

Thanks to former pupil, Zoe Waddell, who organised a fun PE afternoon at Grange this week for Annanhill and Gargieston pupils. They were able to enjoy games of basketball, badminton etc and get to know some of the people who will be in their year group in August. A good time was had by all!

February 2019

The Primary 7 children enjoyed a chance to meet all their future classmates this week, with the Getting To Know You Day at Grange. Perhaps some life-long friendships were started on Tuesday!

November 2018

MATHS DAY

Primary 7 enjoyed a morning of Maths challenges organised by Mr Wallace. All the games had a Christmas theme and supported by some very helpful S3 elves! This was the first time all the Primary 7s from Annanhill, Crosshouse, Hillhead, Shortlees and of course Gargieston, had all been together. Hopefully some new, maybe life-long friendships, started on the day!

Mr Johnson, the Head Teacher also introduced himself to everyone and welcomed the 7s to their first day together.

28/10/18

All through October and November, we will be visiting the PE Department. Mr Adam and the S6 CSLA (Community Sports Leader Award) pupils will be teaching us badminton and basketball skills.

02/10/18

The Class of 2019 had their first experience of visiting Grange when we went to the Art & Design Department. Miss Sharpe and Miss Leitch gave top tips for capturing that perfect shot ahead of our Town Trail walk taking photos to enter in the national My Place Photography competition.

Thank you to the ladies for taking the time to see us.

21/02/18

This week Primary 7 enjoyed the Getting To Know You Day at Grange Academy.

This day is organised by all the P7 staff alongside their secondary colleagues to bring the children together in a series of tasks and challenges. They had the chance to meet Miss McBride PT of Transition as well as other teachers. Community policeman PC McKenna also spoke to the future S1. Approximately 210 children attended the day.

The next Transition event is the Science Fair which will take place on the morning of Friday March 9th.

20/12/17

Well done to all the Primary 7s who came along to the evening performance of the Grange Education Group Concert. The P7 Transition Group Choir sang beautifully and it was lovely to see everyone in their Primary School sweatshirts mixing with their future peers.

Thank you again to Miss MacKenzie  and Mr Ramsay for visiting the school and teaching us these songs.

03/11/17

Primary 7 walked up to Grange Art & Design Department to meet Miss Sharpe for her to share some top tips on capturing that perfect photograph. She talked about perspective, focal points and the rule of thirds.

Then they took those tips out into the town centre taking lots of great photos. Everyone will soon choose their favourite photo to enter the national My Place Photography run by The Scottish Civic Trust.

09/11/17

Miss McKenzie from the Music & Drama Department is visiting every Thursday morning to teach P7 songs to be sung in a concert in Grange in December. All the P7s heading to Grange in August will form one big choir.

22/11/17

We have received a kind invitation from the Grange Academy Parent Council for any interested parents to go along to their meetings. This may well be of particular interest to our P7 parents, giving them an insight into life at the secondary.

The next meeting will be held in Grange on January 9th at 7pm.
