ECC Homelink – Word Aware

Within the next 2 weeks we will be exploring the concept of the word ‘out’ within the ECC through various activities.

Please can you encourage your child to look out of the window at home as well as when in the car/bus and discuss what they can see. Feel free to use your imagination and use other methods to support your child to understand the concept of out.

Could you please post photos on your child’s personal blog.

P6 WERE DANGER DETECTIVES!!!! JORDAN ARRESTED!!!!!

P6 were at danger detectives today, there were five groups and we got different stations to go to. One of the stations was a fancy bus with a pc, Xbox , and a ps4.

There was another station with a man a bike and a van and the man was knocked off the bike and we had to find clues to what might have happened.

At the start we got a presentation about what to do in a house fire and  why to not be a stalker and look at peoples personal information. We did a demonstration of Justin getting arrested and he was one of our friends!!!

P6/7 Football

Our P6/7 football team continued their winning streak this afternoon beating Auchinleck, St Andrew’s and James Hamilton in their three matches. This leaves them top of their table with only Loanhead left to play next week. Well done to the boys not just on their level of skill but on their sportsmanship too. Thanks also to the Dads for helping get the boys this far.

Prize Giving

Thank you so much to everyone who gave us opinions and feedback on our annual Prize Giving through the blog and at the parent forums. All your opinions were merged with those of staff and pupils to make changes to the current format. Feedback we received included:

  •  a strong opinion that a prize giving should still take place every June in the church
  •  nearly everyone would prefer to see more effort being awarded than ‘excellence’
  •  link our school values to an award
  •  many felt Art and Music should be there to recognise creativity
  •  one sport should not be picked out as having a Player of the Year as we have teams for many categories and age groups in 10 different sports
  • success in any school competitions should still be recognised e.g. sporting events, Writing competitions, photography awards.

With all these points taken into consideration you will see a very different Prize Giving this year. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us and, also from feedback, we will ensure the children are clear as to what each award is for.
