Athletics – Kilmarnock Harriers

Well done to some Gargieston pupils who were selected to compete for the Harriers in the Scottish Athletics Indoor League event last weekend.

Robbie Work (P6A) competed in the 200m, Megan Haggarty and Eilidh Mitchell (both P6B) also took part – Megan in the 600m and 60m sprint, and Eilidh in the long jump and 60m sprint. Finally, Sam Lennox (also 6B) ran in the 60m sprint.

Congratulations to all four of them on their selection – we’re proud of all your achievements!

Active Girls Day

Yesterday the P6 girls put their new leadership skills to the test by running an Active Girls Day for P1-7. Despite the typical Scottish weather, the girls all had fun and the P6 girls headed home for a well-deserved rest!

Thanks to Kirsty Millar from Active Schools who supported the P6 girls in delivering their playground games!

Road Race

It is great to see some outdoor events beginning to be held again – one of them being the Schools Road Race in Grangemouth yesterday.

We had 4 teams from P6 and 7 participating. They all ran extremely well in this national event with a special mention going to the P6 girls team who finished 5th and the two P7 boys teams for finishing 8th and 9th out of 26.

We are so proud of you representing the school and thanks to all your parents for taking you along. Well done, Team Gargieston!
