GFG Update for 2019-2020

We thought we would let you know what the GFG has raised so far this session, with the help from parents, grandparents, friends and family.

We have raised nearly £3000 for Gargieston Primary and ECC! We added £3000 from last session to this sum and it has paid for…

School – The Active Literacy Project resources; the outdoor clock installation; a contribution towards the Christmas parties.

ECC -Outdoor learning equipment and materials; books for Christmas presents.

We have organised a variety of events so far in order to raise these funds to purchase the equipment and resources. The events organised by the GFG have been:

Summer Sizzler Fun Day – £304.14                                                                Hallowe’en Disco – £746.78                                                                                  Christmas mugs, cushions etc. – £332.67                                                          Christmas tea towels – £359.00                                                                            Photographs – £960.00

Thank you to everyone for your continued support!

The GFG has teamed up with the very generous Bar Luca to give you the chance of winning a £50 voucher! Perfect for an adults only treat or a family pizza night.

It’s so easy! All you need to do is:

Comment on this post (click on the Bar Luca Voucher heading) with a fundraising idea for 2020 and your name will go into the draw. If you have access to Facebook you can like the Gargieston Fundraising Group page.

Winners will be picked at random on 1st March. Good luck!

Gargieston Fundraising Group

There are core members of the GFG who hold official roles – the roles being Chairperson, Treasurer, Marketing and Secretary.

What we are looking for is a small group of parents / friends who would love to organise an event without the extra commitment of becoming a permanent member of the GFG / Parent Council. Some examples being – parents who are keen runners are organising Roon The Toon; our successful musical bingo night was organised by one parent who replicated this from an event at work.

The GFG will support you with all the technicalities, all you need to do is bring enthusiasm!

If you are interested please pop along to the parents room on Friday 14th February at 9 am for Tea and Treats and show your love for the school.

Active Literacy Resources

With the new term well under way, staff and pupils are becoming more familiar with the methodology of Active Literacy and using more of the resources purchased using GFG money.

We thought this would be a good time to thank all of you for supporting the GFG and in particular the committee for giving up their own time to organise the discos, quiz nights, fun family days; collate Christmas card/ gift orders; prepare tea towel templates etc. Without their hard work we would not have been able to buy this huge bank resources from which all the children will benefit.

Class sets of novels – The Hodgeheg, The Borrowers, The Last Wolf, Holes, The Butterfly Lion, The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark; group sets of The Trouble With Dragons, Harris the Hero, Skye the Puffling, The Tiny Seed; games; cards; colourful storage drawers; folders and materials staff can use to build up a large bank of resources.

Instead of children handing out individual Christmas cards this year, please consider creating one card for the whole ECC which will be displayed on the wall and make a donation to support Cash for Kids.

Thank you 🙂
