This week, Gargieston PS & ECC would have been a hive of creativity as we prepared for Easter.
Mrs McLaughland, Mrs Lawson, Mrs Hendrie and I would like to encourage you to be creative at home with some Easter art work.
The ECC had planned to hold an Easter bonnet parade through the school. If you have time, we would love you all to do this at home! Be as creative as you can and have fun making Easter bonnets – you could even make one for Mum & Dad or your pets. Maybe you could have a parade in your garden!
We would love to see your Easter bonnets posted on your class Teams or your blogs. We will select some of the most creative ones to share on here at the end of the week.
Have fun!

We are acutely aware that many of our families are working incredibly hard at the moment in the fight against this virus to save lives and enable us to return to normality.
At 8pm tonight, we would like you to join the UK in giving thanks to our brilliant NHS workers by giving them a huge round of applause from your front door, garden, windows, and living rooms.
Thank you to all NHS workers #ClapForOurCarers
Following communication from our Head of Service to parents yesterday regarding school closures, we have had a large number of enquiries from parents regarding the definition of the term ‘key worker’ and what the provision will be for these children. This is currently under discussion at Corporate level and we will communicate the information with you as soon as we have it.
May I remind you that the service we provide will not be a continuation of normal educational provision. It has been made clear by Scottish Government and East Ayrshire Council that schools will only offer emergency and essential provision.
I am aware that many of you will have heard the First Ministers announcement earlier today and subsequent news reports regarding school closures.
We are awaiting further guidance from East Ayrshire Council regarding how this announcement will impact on us at Gargieston. We will be in contact with all parents regarding any planned closures and plans for home learning as soon as possible.
We appreciate you patience and support in the meantime.
Please note that all extra curricular clubs are now cancelled for the foreseeable future. This includes all sports clubs held before and after school, iCycle, homework club and our PEF support groups.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
A Bank of Scotland debit card was found in our school playground this morning.
If you think this bank card may belong to you, please contact the school office.
We were absolutely delighted to be invited by East Ayrshire Council to Fly the Flag for the Commonwealth yesterday. Oliver, Charlie, Lucy, Adam, Evie and Bobby look part in the parade with invited guests and Lucy and Adam read the Commonwealth Affirmation before raising the flag with Councillor Douglas Reid.
Following the event, the children were invited to a reception within Council Headquarters and enjoyed a visit to Council Chambers with Mrs McAulay-Griffiths, Head of Education.
Well done to everyone who made an Easter bonnet this week. We had great fun looking at all your amazing creations – hopefully you can see some of them in the slideshow at the top.
We hope that you all have a lovely break with your families. Stay safe and we look forward to resuming home learning with you on Monday 20th April 🙂
