ECC Outdoor den

We would like to say a huge thank you to Ben’s dad who very kindly created our outdoor den using pallets for the ECC children to explore in our courtyard area.

Grange Cluster Football

Thank you so much to all the P5 boys and girls who represented Gargieston in yesterday’s Cluster Tournament with only 1 game lost by either team. A terrific achievement! Thank you so much to Bethany Hay for giving up her time to help organise the teams. It was also lovely to receive a call this morning complimenting our children on their sportsmanship and behaviour. Well done to everyone who took part!

Scotland Schools District Tournament

Congratulations to Blaike Hay, Kai Linton and Roan Darnbrough on their footballing success yesterday. The 3 boys were selected to play for East Ayrshire and we were delighted to hear that East Ayrshire won the Scottish Schools District tournament yesterday in Edinburgh. This is a fantastic achievement in such a high level competition. We are all very proud of you, boys!

National Digital Learning Week 2019

National Digital Learning Week 2019

This Education Scotland event, gives children the opportunity to take part in curriculum focused activities using digital technology and to share these approaches across Scotland.

We are going to try to take part in the 5 challenges!

For this 5th annual event, all schools in Scotland are invited to take part in 5 these curriculum focused challenges:

So far………

Here are our p4 efforts in the Numeracy Challenge. We used digital technology to analyse and display our data #NDLW19

Our p5s are starting to create a digital story, which will be visiting some of our other classes over the next few days:

Word Aware in the Early Childhood Centre

To help develop children’s vocabulary we are implementing ‘Word Aware’. The link below will explain the concept of Word Aware:

Word Aware

Every second week we will be exploring a different word, for the past 2 weeks we have been focussing on the word ‘fluffy’. We have been looking around the nursery and identifying things that are fluffy and not fluffy.

Please can you  have a look with your child for items that are fluffy and not fluffy (around the house and outdoors). Post your child’s findings on their individual blog.

Parent Helpers

We are looking for parent helpers to help with our P6

Danger Detectives  trip next Wednesday 22 May.

Leaving school at 9am and returning for 11.30am.

We are looking for any help – even if your child is not going on the outing.

Please complete your details below if you are free to help.

ECC sports day

For our ECC Sports day on Wednesday 5th June 10.30am and 2.00pm can we ask that children wear their group colours for this event please.

We hope that all of the parent’s are training well for the special mums and dads race at the end.

ECC sanding

The children in the ECC are enjoying learning about safety while exploring risky play. They are working as part of a team to use sand paper to start creating our new den to investigate outdoors. Keep an eye out for the progress on this.
