The Dragon Returns!!

Yesterday P1 were shocked to find that the friendly fairyland dragon had been back for a visit.  This time, he left a letter complimenting our beanstalk and also left all of the children a present.  The children now all have a castles book which the dragon has asked them to write in and tell him about how they are getting on with turning the classroom into fairyland.  Keep an eye out for the beantstalk photos coming soon.  Also, good luck to Mrs Ferguson on her personal challenge of climbing our beanstalk to see what’s at the top!!!!

Nursery Burns Celebrations

In nursery this week we have been learning about Scottish Culture.
We have been creating tartan patterns using cars, weaving gummed paper and with paint. We have learned lots of Scottish songs and listening to Scottish stories. The children have enjoyed our Scottish music and dancing. To finish our Burns celebration we enjoyed haggis, neeps and tatties for our Burns Supper.

What have Primary 6 and Mrs M been up to this week?

In Primary 6 we have been so busy this week!

Here are some of our reflections.

Aimee has enjoyed learning about Queen Victoria. She especially liked the family tree activity and finding out that Queen Victoria had nine (!) children and Aimee was quite surprised by this!

In Maths Katie has been learning about angles. She is proud that she can identify different types, measure and even draw different angles. Katie found the Kandinsky angle art particularly interesting. Kyle totally agrees. He thought he wouldn’t be able to do it but he could!

Kai liked learning Mandarin this week because he got to make a Chinese dragon to celebrate the new year. He was very surprised to learn they do not have wings!

Billy would like to find more about the Queen Victoria’s family. Jaymie wants to investigate more about Victorian life especially the late Victorians. Ben wants to know more about the inventions created in Victorian times.

Ewan wants to try harder in Maths when using compassess as he found this really tricky this week. Steph B wants to work on keeping her decimal points in the right place. Emma M wants to getting better at creating calligrams.

One top fact from this week is…

Steven : Queen Victoria became queen aged only 18!

P1a’s Surprise Visitor

P1a had a shock on Thursday morning when they came into the classroom to find some big, green glittery footprints leading from near the window over to the library corner.  After closer inspection, Jason found a letter sitting on a chair in the library and upon reading the letter we found that it was from a friendly dragon.  He has asked for P1a’s help in turning our classroom into Fairyland as his home has disappeared.  P1a have already written back to the dragon to explain that they would love to help and we have begun thinking about how to turn our classroom into Fairyland!

P3 – Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a lovely Christmas. Many thanks for all my lovely Christmas cards and gifts.  This term our gym days will be Monday and Wednesday. Our library day will be Thursday. Homework will handed out on a Tuesday and due back the following Monday.  Please remember to bring your reading book and diary to school every day.

Nursery Christmas Fun

In the nursery we are very excited about Christmas.  We wrote invitations inviting Santa to our party and this week he wrote a letter back to us!!  He said he will try to make it but he is very busy and poor Rudolph has a cold.

We are looking forward to telling you the Christmas story at our nativity next week, don’t forget, it is on Thursday 18th December at 10am for the morning children and 2pm for the afternoon children.
