Over the past couple of weeks, P1b have been learning all about money. We have been looking at all the different coins and have been sorting, matching and ordering these. We know that the coins have different values and are different shapes and colours. Have a look at us working hard!

Wig Walk
Today, the whole school went on a wig walk to raise money for Jak’s Den. We had lots of fun and even the swans tried to get in on the action!
Lauren liked counting and flying like a bird with her buddies during the walk, Paul enjoyed finding the signs of autumn with his buddy, Olivia liked looking at the leaves that had fallen down and Tyler liked kicking the fallen leaves.
Have a look at some of our pictures.
Structured Play Fun
P1b worked very hard in the structured play area this afternoon. They were reading in the library, getting creative at the art area, ordering numbers, playing with the dolls houses and role-playing in the house corner. The children were linking their learning from health this week and when they were preparing food in the house corner they were remembering to wash their hands thoroughly first!
Primary one working hard…….again!
Story in the Sun!!
Primary One Maths
P1b have been working very hard in maths this week. We have now worked on forming all the numbers to 10 correctly and have been ordering and counting numbers very carefully. We have also looked at the number names to 5 and have been trying to match these with the numerals. Mrs Lloyd has been very impressed with our ten frame work and is proud of how quickly we can look at dot patterns and say the number that they represent. Here are some photos of us in action. Enjoy!!
P1b
P1b worked very hard last week. The children were busy learning some new sounds and also worked on counting and forming numbers correctly. Abi enjoyed playing outside with her buddy while Charley enjoyed decorating her crown when we were learning about ‘c’. Ben enjoyed making his upside monster during our ‘m’ work.
Primary One
A big welcome to all the new primary ones who have settled in really well already! When we walked along the corridor to hand in the register this morning Mrs Stewart and Mrs Ferguson couldn’t believe how quiet our line was – at first they thought we were primary six!! The highlight of the day was definitely meeting the buddies again and going outside to play with them at playtime. A big thank you goes to the P7 children who were super helpers when getting the primary ones organised for playtime. Today, Ben enjoyed playing in the willow tunnel, Abi enjoyed reading books in the library corner while Casey enjoyed listening to our story ‘The Paper Dolls’ by Julia Donaldson at story time. Well done everyone, enjoy the weekend before our busy week next week!
Greater or Less
This week, Mrs Lloyd’s maths group have been learning about greater than and less than. We have looked at the symbols and talked about how they could represent a crocodiles mouth as the open mouth would face towards the biggest number. The children also know that if the numbers are the same an equals sign would be used. Here are some photos of the children working hard. Well done everyone!
Strange Happenings in P1!
P1a were shocked this morning to find that Eco Ted had taken himself off on a pirate adventure! This morning the children found a message in a bottle inside our classroom. When we opened it up we found a letter from Eco Ted and we discovered that he had disappeared. He has sneaked aboard a pirate ship and he wanted the children to write back to tell him what he needs to do in order to act like a pirate. The quality of the writing that the children produced this morning was fantastic and I’m sure when we put these messages in a bottle they will really help Eco Ted to fit in onboard the pirate ship. The children are really hoping that he will return tomorrow so that someone can take him home for the weekend. We’ll keep you posted!!
