Planting

This week the children have been busy planting different flower seeds using plastic bottles and then hanging them outside in the nursery garden. Many children know which planting is theirs and have been taking care of it by giving it some water.

This will definitely brighten up the garden and hopefully bring bees and butterflies to visit later on this year.

World Book Day

As part of World Book Day the nursery  children had the opportunity to dress up as characters from various books and they also had the pleasure of  Primary 4 and Primary 4/5 children sharing stories with them. Some older children brought books to share with others and some children borrowed the nursery books.

We even managed  a wee play together after sharing their love of reading.

Snowy Day

Today the nursery children had great fun playing in the snow even although it didn’t last for very long. They were all set with waterproof trousers and wellies with most of the children enjoyed going down the wet slide.

Hunt for the Big Bad Wolf

This week in the nursery we have been focusing on Little Red Riding Hood where most of the children are able to retell this story using visuals. We spoke about personal safety as Little Red Riding Hood was told not to talk to anyone on the way to grandma’s house and how the Big Bad Wolf was very naughty. We went on a hunt to the local woods to see if we could find the Big Bad Wolf.

We didn’t manage to find the Big Bad Wolf but we did find out that they are working on replacing the bridge over the pond and we will keep an eye on the progress of this.

Come and Play Week

This week parents had the opportunity to visit the nursery to spend time with their children in nursery and find out what they like to do in their time here.

Many parents enjoyed joining in with various activities their children participate in.

Some parent’s comments-

” Loved Gym time. Great experience for us and seeing the confidence of the kids. Thanks.”

“Really enjoyed Music, nice to see what the kids get up to and learn about their topics.”

“Great to see him interact with all the other kids. Showed me round all his favourite things.”

“Had a great day learning French!”

“Had a lovely time. love how much you interact with the kids. Great job.”

Chinese New Year

This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year. Firstly the children listened to the story of how the Chinese years were named. At music the participated in the Dragon dance  and played musical instruments to Chinese music. They also had a lovely snack with some Prawn Crackers to go along with it.
