Badger The Mystical Mutt @ Bankton
You may already be aware of the Magical Badger Buzz at Bankton!! We are delighted to be teaming up with Badger the Mystical Mutt and Authors McNicol and Jackson for an inspiring fun-filled year as our very own reading patrons!
This project has been set up to inspire the pupils and further develop a love for reading and writing in our school!
Badger visited the school last month and was recorded for a very special radio broadcast which will be aired on BBC Radio Scotland on Boxing Day at 12.30 (see the link below for details).

First Minister’s Reading Challenge Celebration Event
Bankton Primary School was delighted to be showcasing the work we have been doing to encourage reading through our breakfast book club at the First Minister’s Reading Challenge Celebration today.
We were so proud of our book club representatives who came to share our work with other schools from across Scotland as well as with some very important people that you may recognise!!!

A Christmas Message From P4
Primary 4 have been working on a mini Polar Express project. On Friday they all came home with their first gift of Christmas wrapped in a beautiful handmade box and filled with messages about friendship and kindness! We have been learning about the term ‘Christmas spirit’ and have been planning ways we can share this over the next few festive weeks!

Bankton Breakfast Club @ Book Week
We are still having lots of fun reading at breakfast club! This week we have been doing lots of fun activities related to our favourite authors and we even had a prize draw for everyone who took part in activities this week!

Dyslexia Awareness Week Scotland 7th – 14th Nov
As part of Dyslexia Awareness week some of the classes in the middle and upper school will be watching short video clips to highlight what dyslexia is and how it can impact on people who have it. As well as looking at the difficulties they can have in learning, the clips also look at the amazing talents a dyslexic mind can bring!

Books Are a Big Deal at Bankton Breakfast Club!!!
Emotion Works @ Bankton
The children loved Showing off the work they have been doing on emotions with Claire Murray from Emotion Works today. The whole school has been working on the Emotion Works cog system to help the children to understand their emotions. They have been developing their vocabulary of emotion words, looking at how different emotions feel in their bodies, how they behave when they feel these emotions emotions and what triggers them to feel different things. Next week we will be looking at how we can regulate our responses to our emotions! Look our for our showcase in November where parents will get a chance to come in and find out more about what we have been doing!
